Okay check it... i need assistance from real talk computer geeks. cuz i have a problem at hand that goes unparralled to anything a regular computer user has ever experienced.

2 days ago. i was on the computer minding my own business probably downloading some porn or something :dunno:
me and the lady were gonna watch a movie on the PS3 in the living room via the remote connection (as ive done many time before)
i needed to restart my computer real quick though. so i shut it down.

when i restarted it... i REFUSED to get past the BIOS.

just fucking refused.

It said "Detecting IDE Devices"

for Lord knows how long. I unplugged everything and plugged everything back up one by one. still nothing. i go into the BIOS to find that its not finding anything. (NOTE: the only way i was able to enter the BIOS was by not having my HDD connected, the HDD stops anything from happening at all)

i took my computer to my cousins house to see if we could find any solutions. after many tests we concluded that my HDD was down for the count.
BUT!! what confused me was... why was the HDD still turning on and running as if it was fine?

Now check it... Data Recovery Software. whats the extent of this stuffs power? i downloaded SeaTools a Seagate Data Recovery program and it still failed to find my Seagate HDD. Is there no way on earth i can recovery my things on my own? Or am i forced to take it to a place that may just have the same problems as I and still charge me for their "labor"?

if you are having problems finding the drive or OS then boot up the drive as a slave on another machine and see if it works fine. if that works then plug it back in and you should be good.

i highly suggest having a hot swap dock like this... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153066

1) pull drive
2) put in dock
3) connect to another machine

already done that. in my cousins machine. it never found it and it made his take FOREVER to load Windows. but he doesnt have a docking station like the one you posted. would that raise the likelihood of the pc finding it?

now this was my first ever SATA drive so ive yet to figure out how to change from Master to slave (or rather failed to have interest in learning how to do so) :o

well if you tried to make it a slave and it still didn't work then good luck w/ that. if there isn't really anything of importance on the drive it would say just buy another and make sure you back up your shit next time - if your machine has raid i would suggest using it next time.

fixing bad drives can be a costly adventure.
