Seen people fly off.

I've personally spun off.

I've seen more than my share of head-ons from dragon's tail.

Bikers...well, they're just extra points. I've almost taken out two...

Scott if u want to go then go... but everyone who has common sense and experience on the mountain will tell u they aren't goign this time of year. too much gravel on the roads.

plus a saturday is never a good day to go on a mountain run. a week day or a sunday are the best days for mountain runs due to traffic & cops

of all the mountain runs ive been apart of/set up, sunday morning are usually the best. We usually start between 9-10am and it usually ends sometime between 1-3 (being generous as unseen problems can arise).

Dont worry kid, we will set up a run when the weather gets warmer.

yeah it could have been alot worse, but thanx to my JDM driving skills i was able to only sideswipe the suburban.

naw on a serious note though i was, really upset and really scared that the cop was gonna take my ass to jail. it's not like i could have lied and said i was causually driving through the mountain enjoying the nice sunny day. who's gonna believe that when they look at a car thats fully gutted and has a full 6pt rollcage lol :screwy: :lmfao:

here's some more pics for those that haven't seen them already.

My experiences of inexperienced drivers, gravel, and mountains... (1 of 3. I can't locate the Rabbit that went off, or my car...)

the mountain is a very unforgiving place. all it takes is one mistake, a dumb ass coming in the other direction, or some left over gravel, and ur fucked!

Wat kind of car WAS that?

Kid was 16 or 17, trying to keep up with those of us WELL more experienced, including the car he was following...a ferrari 355 F1 that came along with us that trip. This kid lost it in an s-turn when the rear got loose and he oversteered, overcorrected, and went off the edge. Dropped about 20-30ft, rolled 2 or 3 times, hit a tree. He got out, and so did his co-pilot. Car soon after caught flame and lit up.

The other guy that went off in the red rabbit (if I remember right) is WELL experienced. I've been up there a few times with him. He ended up just losing the rear due to...I can't remember if he said he had his tire pressure set wrong, or he was in minor need of an alignment...something like that. Good driver, great car, just still slipped up on the sand/gravel, I think. His car was salvageable, though, and to the best of my knowledge, he rebuilt it and is back on the road.

My wreck happened because I was 17 (or 18) and inexperienced up there. I wasn't used to driving, nor had I experienced brakes being so hot they didn't work. My car was DECENTLY well built for the run (I ran the mountain several times after with the same setup perfectly fine). I was too pedal-happy on the gas and brake. I came around a turn and couldn't slow at the same rate as the car in front of me. Tried to steer my way out of it, weight transfer worked against me, then hit gravel, spun a 360 and slammed sideways into the mountain/ditch. Car was pulled out via my fellow runners, and we limped it to a gas station to her get her up and running, again.

No matter how you look at it, these runs are always risky. It's just a better idea to eliminate as many of the elements as you can.

Eh, Fieros usually catch fire before they get flipped upside down most of the time. Went up there yesterday on the bike, and the roads were pretty clean. However it was cold as balls, and flurring at the top of 129. This week looks like we are going to below freezing all week during the nights, so it may ice before the weekend.
