me and my buddy recently painted the valve cover on my prelude. and ever since there has been a knocking coming from the engine bay. it only seems to do it as i slow down from 50mph or higher. The only things i could think of are that we dropped a bolt as we pulled off the cover, but if it was in the head it should be making a lot more racket and all the time right?? and the ground wire for my valve cover is stripped and wont stay snug, so i have no idea.

hit me up with places to look for this pita

if a nut or bolt was stuck in there it would sound fucked up from the 1st crank...and if it was a knock it would do it all the time. so it might be something non engine related

How are you unsure if you dropped a bolt into the head? It's simple, if you were missing a bolt/nut when you finished, then most likely you did. If all nuts and bolts are accounted for, then you most likely did not. Since you said the noise is coming from when you slow down from higher speeds, it could be an axle issue.

bc i know my buddy dropped one and it didnt hit the ground, so we looked in the head a we and saw nothin. so just put the cover back on and replaced the nut
