300 inline 6

11:1 compression

big solid lifter cam, roller rockers

750 Holley

nitrous

Top Loader 4 speed

For those of you who don't know, the 300 inline 6 was a truck-only engine. It is the "big block" of inline sixes. Passenger cars got the "small block" 144/170/200/250 engines that were completely un-related. A stock 300 inline 6 makes a hair more torque than a stock 302 V8 but it's horsepower is severely limited by the 1 barrel carb and economy-minded cam pattern. This one doesn't have a 1 barrel carb, or a crappy cam obviously. Note how close the back of the engine is to the firewall. Its also so close in the front that a mechanical fan could not be used

Edit: obviously not my car. :ninja:

hmm still i should be looking at a 347 stoker, or a built HO 289, if i was guna go with less that 8cyl i would put in the 2.3l SVO engine or an RB26DETT and make it a major boost baby

I'd go with a 351 Cleveland if I had to choose a V8. Other than that it'd be cool to see a SVO/Turbo Coupe engine, a Taurus SHO V6, the Eaton blower equipped 3.8 V6 from the T-bird super-coupes, or even a Duratec. Its nice to look under the hood and see a Ford engine other than a 302 Windsor or a modular. :goodjob:

300 6's are incredible. Bulletproof. They are widely considered one of, if not the best most reliable engine ever made.

i knew a guy who demolished a large house with an 70's ranger pickup and chain. 300 inline 6 of course.

I have one with 497,000 miles on it in an 1987 F150, other than leaking a quart of oil every week it's still dead reliable. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere.
