I took these of Shibby's VW the other night, I wanted to catch sunset, but we missed it by about 15 or 20 minutes. I'm not really happy with these, they turned out a lot granier than I would have desired. I am making a thread over in the photography section to see if the IA experts can give me a lending hand, so check that out if you think you can offer some good advice.

Anyways, the two pics I am most happy with:

^^^Two shots combined together, both 30 seconds a piece. Lighting was done with a red LED keychain.

^^^This one was a real challenge, first black car I have tried to shoot at night. I used 3 images for this shot, the lighting was done with an AB800 (bare bulb) at the front, and then for both wheels.

Anyway, thanks for looking. I'm definitely going to give this car another shot in a few days or so. Remember to help me out over in the photog section if you can.

Those came out good man. What building is that in the back of the second picture? That's kind of crazy looking.

i like how you work with lighting.

the angle in the 1st one bothers me, if i HAD to find something to bitch about that would be it.

you are a brave man to use flash at night with a black car.

good looking pictures, andy!

i wanna get to your level one day but don't wanna invest in those bulby thingies you have and such.

How do you set the exposure for 30 seconds without over exposure??

unless it was completely dark??

thanks man.

Yeah photographing black cars are hard enough, doing them in the pitch black adds a fun little twist I suppose. :D

When unsure of the exposure, the analog exposure display is your friend ;)

And if you're worried about overexposure for a 30 second shutter speed, compensate it with a really low ISO and a narrower depth of field (higher f-stop). It's all about proportioning.
