If you guys haven't downloaded it yet. I highly recommend you should. It is more stable than xp in the beta and 50x faster than vista. In fact I am using as my main OS right now.

Have fun with the buggy beta that expires in august. Glad to hear its faster than vista though. Is it the resource hog tha vista is?

IT not buggy at all. It fast as hell. It works with most of the vista drivers. My wireless works, sound and video all work flawlessly. I am using less ram. So no it a not a resource hog at all. It alot more stable then vista. But I have Xp as a dual boot incase anything happens.

Can you download a legit beta copy? Or is it a bittorrent copy? I want to try it out on my laptop.

its a bit torrent copy, and thats what im using it on is my laptop, they are supposed to release public beta keys soon, so the bit torrent deal isnt really gonna matter, its a hell of alot better than vista though, hell ive been runnin it for about 2 weeks now and ill take it over xp, but thats only my opinion

Considering it's not even on Technet yet I wouldn't touch that O/S with someone else's computer.. Go back to XP if you want some more stable than Vista.. I don't know what you're talking about because XP is rock solid if it's installed correctly.

I keep trying to dl it from MS's website, and it works fine and then just randomly stops at like 400-500 mb. Anyone else having that issue?
my DL is at 52% 1.29GB and climbing.......hasn't stalled yet, although it seems to be common.

You have to use IE and that download manager active x thing for it to DL properly. At least that solved the problem for me.

I copied the link in to free download manger and left it to do it's thing. I got the 32 and 64 bit versions with a couple of keys. I plan to put the 64 bit version on a separate partition today to tomorrow.

I may have to get it a shot in vmware to see how it works
this is what I plan on doing.
btw, when you install does it give you the option to install 32/64 or are the download files actually different?

Fantastic, reps for you sir
finally had a chance to install it and so far all I can say is wow............shit's blazing. even the install was breezy, only 35 minutes for my freshly partitioned HD. only 3 drivers didn't automatically load, two of which were already missing from my new to me Lenovo Olympic Soleil E390A (fingerprint sensor, mass storage controller and some unknown device). I should have those up and running shortly though.
BTW, Reps for anyone who can find this laptop on the Lenovo/IBM official webpage. All searches came back, not available to consumers.

I'll wait for the official release of 7, since it will only be used if I need to use a windows based program on my Mac anyway ( I have my drive partitioned so I can dual boot Window and OS X)

it is pretty slick - basically a smoother running vista with a few new features. even the install is the same. i would totally suggest it for people using xp currently - skipping vista won't be as bad if you go straight to 7.
one thing i noticed is upgrade was only available for vista + sp1 not XP upgrade available.
