Capcom held an event this week to show off Resident Evil 5, the latest entry in the reborn survival horror franchise. Two areas inside the game were showcased, the first being the same basic demo we've seen over the past few months, which has morphed into the upcoming public demo. On the other hand, the second area featured never-before-seen areas and gameplay that hinted at what else the game is going to offer. More importantly, the new areas gave us a glimpse of cinematic sequences that offered some bits of information on the storyline. Given that we're gluttons for punishment and curious about the story, we dove right in to face any number of deaths in the promising game.

From what i've read/seen, RE5 is shaping up to be better than 4 (which I -- and I think pretty much every other RE fan -- absolutely loved). I really hope the story is classic, deep & intense Resident Evil goodness and not a letdown. Either way, I'll probably go ape shit over it. The only thing that kidna bugs me is that judging from the gameplay videos, it looks like Resident Evil 4 with different character models -- same animations, gameplay, etc. I really hope i'm wrong.

I can't decide whether i'm going to get it for PS3 or 360. Probably PS3... just because RE has always been on PS.

The gameplay is identical to RE4 from what I've seen. The only difference is that they actually expanded on the mechanics (rolling and other tactical movements). There are two exclusive videos on the new RE: Degeneration movie that came out not too long ago as well. Check it out. I've also heard/seen clips involving Claire Redfield and what appears to be Sherry Birkin as well. Shit looks like it's gonna be intese as hell too. Def. a must buy (and IMO, ONLY on the PS3... Resident Evil's home console)

the best RE game came out on Gamecube 1st,and i like it alot more than the PS2 version.

We didn't say that it was PS3 only. We simply stated that that was the home console. RE 1 through Code Veronica was on PS1 and 2. That's the system that the series started on.

And, IMO, the best RE title was Resident Evil 2: Directors cut.

i bought the movie when it came out! i'd say its pretty good, the CG in it is well made there isn't a whole lot of super in depth story to it, but scenarios are basically simple, however the action is good. it doesn't take place during the game play time frames though. its about a year after raccoon city. so in that sense its "old" but the monsters and what not are well made the the battle scenes pretty believable for the most part, i'd give it a 4.4/5 there was some room for improvement but over all very good :D

Takes place 7 years after RE2, so roughly 1 year after RE4. I liked it alot. EXTREMELY accurate to the story and well, it's much better than anything Hollywood could come up with (I hated the live action series).

You can download (and burn to DVD) the demo for 360 already. I played it for about an hour or so. Pretty much the same as RE4 whenever you change the control scheme back.

You're right -- GC did have it first, but it came out only like 6 or so months later on PS2. ..but that was the only one.

All I was saying is that every RE game i've ever played has been on a PS system, so I'm probably going w/the PS3 version because it just makes sense.

RE1, 2, 3, CV all came out on the PS1/2 first.
RE2 was ported to the N64.
RE4 and Zero came out on the GC, with RE4 getting ported to the PS2 (with added stuff).

Those are the original releases. RE1 was remade for the GC using the Zero/RE4 gameplay style. RE5 looks to play like the remake and RE4.

Ok, I can go on and on (I'm mildly obsessed with the series), but I'm out for now...

Go play any of the Outbreak games. Those used the PS2 online setup... and were horrible IMO. lol
