Most definetly. This is the first time i have really liked the new Mustang since the final SN95 Cobra.

I rather like the new tails. I felt that the last gens 3 light was accurate but was a bit to large when compared to the 60's stang.

Wow it looks much better - ESPECIALLY the interior. I'm digging the softer edges.

Put plenty of miles on 08 V6 mustang rentals. The old interior was just... I dunno something was off. It was all sorta up in your face and just never felt right.

I'm really taken by this car...I've never been a Ford fan but this car is too cool.

The styling looks more sculpted and aggressive, the interior is much improved...I like what they did with the seats there.

I don't know...it just really got me. Too cool.

I feel the same why. Autoblog actually revealed it as a new years present at midnight.

I remember all the gimmick Mustangs from the last generation but this one is just so simple and nice. Im really surprised they got it this right.

The Mustang GT is ~3500 but the Camaro is ~3800 However it does have 100HP more.

So you think just cause (ALL) Camaros in the past have had shit suspension, the new one should as well?

Any modern car without IRS is a joke. It is time American automakers starting building proper all around cars. Live axles left Europe and Japan in the 60's.

well i mean camaros have always been 1/4 mile cars 1st.....i mean they handle pretty damn good with solid rear.

from what ive always seen...high HP and TQ + IRS + to much grip = bye bye rear end.

Yes, there are those that only see the 1/4 mile as the only method of going fast, but i don't and neither do alot of other people.

Like the ones living outside the U.S. The current Mustang always gets laughed at by europeans for its terrible suspension just because the cars that could be bought for the same price are so much better.

Now, you have the Camaro. I don't think it will be sold outside the USA but i'm still not 100% on that. Europe might be too small of a market even thought they know the car very well (A Camaro was BTCC champion in 1973). Australia might be different story. With its modern Fords and Holdens which are very similar to the muscle car formula and have thought GM how to make a proper resonably priced machine that can do everything well. All of which have IRS.

Excuse me, "The face lifted s197 looks like shit."

Well, we all have our opinions.

OneSlow5pt0
01-02-2009, 02:58 PM
yea,i mean its great to have a all round car,but i mean since 1967 the camaro has been a stop light to stop light car, while the Corvette was thier top dog and a far better track car....i mean if a camaro was just like a corvette.

why spend 25-30k more for one?

and i also agree,i highly doubt the camaro will sell great in say the UK..but then again the C6 has been highy praised,so maybe they will give its little brother a chance.

Here's another piece worth bringing up.

I think the new Mustang looks more like the 2 seater concept from all those years ago.

and too much grip is a bad thing huh?
well if your rear end goes bye bye then obviously you need to buy a better one in the first place

I'm not a huge fan of the rear, but I've seen those sequential turn signals on some Mustangs and they look very cool.

Thank goodness they didn't try to ape the Mustang II shape.

Watch...the Mustang in another 15 - 20 years will look like the Fox body all over again.

Any modern car without IRS is a joke. It is time American automakers starting building proper all around cars. Live axles left Europe and Japan in the 60's.

UH...VW still uses a twist beam...esentially a solid rear. So did the 88-03 whatever Maxima. I-beams are used in Japanese vehilces too (can't think of them off the top of my head) which is essentially a solid axle.

Solid rears are stronger...that's why TOYOTA uses it in the Tundra, Sequoia, 4Runner...FJ, Tacoma. You get the idea...of course the rest of the line up FWD with multilink rear.

The 93-02 F-bodies with front control arms and solid rear can pull .89 in stock form. SLP modified version can do .92....It outhandles the 02 Cobra with IRS. So your logic of -ALL- Camaro (ie F-bodies) with S#!T suspension is false.

Bill Strano has won numerous SCCA championships with his Camaro...and it has a Solid Rear I might add.

That goes for all rear ends...and the Ford 9 bolt is the strongest by far...that's why they are in tubbed Supras. FYI.

The Blackjack and P51 were done by Roush. SVT played a role in the GT supercar then the GT500 and also the KR. SVT was basically merged with the Ford Performance Group, which I believe was more of a parts division(FRPP?). In fact there is a lot of buzz about the SVT Raptor with the rumored 6.2 Hurricane modular motor. So SVT is still there and possibly making somewhat of a comeback. I'm still wishing they would have built that Lightning concept from a few years back.

As for why not an IRS. Thats easy. Just look at the number of people that want to run a Mustang straight line vs those who plan on hitting some curves. The platform is already pretty crappy as they are fat pigs. The IRS is something like 75lbs more than a solid axle. The majority of people that buy a Mustang with the intent of modding it have no plans of hitting the turns. Waaay more people are trying to drop tenths off a 1/4 time. Just look how common it is for people to pull the IRS out of a 03-04 Cobra's for a solid axle. Basically just the demographics of the Mustang, and really domestic V8 community. Its also a hell of a lot cheaper to build a solid axle.
