hey everyone kinda new on here and i might be getting a 2001 mustang. it isnt the gt but i was thinking it would be cool to do a 5.0 swap and maybe eventually do some boost via supercharger. am i wasting my time or would this be a practical and fun idea?

just want some opinions

ps: does a shop do this? and if so how much would i be looking at for labor

thank you all.

is it worth that? and plus its got 110k on it. so i would have to rebuild the v6 correct?

I say screw all above and get you a 90 to 93 Coupe and play with it.

what kind of power can the v6`s make?

Depends on the blower, fuel, and ignition setup.

Summit sells a Vortech SQ trim for $3,381.95:
Stock 193 HP 225 lb/ftVortech 278 HP 286 lb/ft

http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=VOR%2D4FF218%2D030SQ&N=700+4294924653+4294908331+4294908282+1011+429483 9808+4294908396+115&autoview=sku

Vortech's page only lists the kit fitting a 99-00, but Summit lists it as fitting up to 04 V6.

If it will only fit 99-00, I have a 99 Mustang V6 that I will let go pretty cheap. You could easily put the Vortech on it (get the kit used if possible). I have a S-trim on my 92 LX myself.

i actually know of a guy down here in my area he bought a v6 mustang then bought the SVT motor swapped it in and then even bought the all the body parts to make it look that way. by looking at it you would never know it was a v6. but to the insurance company it a v6. i also think he ran a 13.2 in it

Its a lot of work to get a 5.0 to fit and it won't pass emissions I suggest you buy a 5.0 if you want one, you get pick up a 94-95 for pretty cheap. There are usually quite a few for sale on www.streetcarforums.com

5.4 swap if your going to do a swap, otherwise Id boost the V6. My dad has an 04 Roush V6 with that Vortech kit and it will keep with GTs.

Its a waste of money. I didnt have a GT, an '05 V6, bored and supercharged out the ass.

Why not buy our Panoz GT-RA race car with a 5.0 already in it? :goodjob:

If you can't do the 5.0 swap yourself then it isn't worth it at all. $$$$$$

You can make as much power as your budget allows.

If you stay with the v6 then......http://www.3.8mustang.com/forum/
