Ok so in February i plan on buying a new car. Im kinda torn between what i want. Looking to keep it around $30,000 and under. Really want a V8, so no Honda.acura.nissan for me.

1) I REALLY want a CTS-V but i have heard too many people say they fall apart after 50,000 miles, ive heard people say the rear ends break all the time, interior falls apart, etc. Anyone know anyone with one, or own one?

2) Pontiac G8. SOmething just looks sick about them with some wheels. i know NOTHING about them, im gonna have to do some research.

3) GTO. I like the GTOs, they are definetly extremely affordable, but i just cant get past that in some form it looks like an old mans car. nothing really flashy about it in my mind.

4) C6 Base Model Vette. This one is getting more and more affordable by the month. you can get them under $25,000 all day long. Really no cons about these that i can find except its a 2 door, id prefer a 4 door.

5) GS430. I absolutely love the GS series, i was kinda looking at getting a 01-02 GS400, but they are kind of played out. The new styling of the 430 is nice, but i dont know what the prices are they may be out of my range.

Again im looking really for a v8, i dont care about mods, only thing i would do is lower it and some wheels. SO i could give a shit about going fast. I want something nice and classy that is DECENTLY fast (again dont care about racing or anything) but something you can take out on a sat night and feel like its a slick ride.

4 door, v8, can sit lots of bitches (jk)

I'd say a C5 Z06 (if that might be something you're interested in) or a C6

Both are beautiful cars and have pushrod motors :ninja:

ive looked at C5s but alot of them are just too old, and ragged out. Plus the C6s are pretty much the same motor IIRC, and i like the newer styling so much more.

I wont own a BWM unless its that M6 or whatever an thats about 5 times the price im looking to spend.

I really like that new Maserati Gran Turismo??? saw one the other day, its SICK. one day.

I dont really care to test drive them as that wont show me anything about longevity. if the CTSV isnt pure crap, and some owners speak up, thats pretty much what my heart is set on.

I feel ya, on top of that, the interior isn't that comfortable in the C5. I want to say a base model C6 is as fast or faster than a C5 Z06.

Either way, I say go with a LS_ powered car. It's proven itself, IMO.

Audi, thats a nice car, but again not big into German cars.

The C5s interior isnt bad, but it isnt great. My only problem with C5s is their value is dropping pretty rapidly and you can get a C6 base model for $25k-30k and the later model C5s can cost that much or the zo6 does.

Im really leaning toward the CTSV still but i kinda was hoping somewhere on here had one

CTS-VBasically a 4-Door Vette with an "American Luxury" interior. Lots of plastics and leather seats. Hooray. They don't look bad on the outside though.

Pontiac G8This is your best bet out of the list you gave. Looks sick, performs well, and you can seat the whole family. Too new to really know any problems with them.

GTOCheap performance, but looks like a Grand Am. (Collins in 3...2...1...)

C6 Base Model VetteNothing beats looking like every other balding middle-aged man going through mid-life crisis. Also, considering the rest of your list, you can throw practicality out the window. Meh, I'd pass on the Vette.

GS430Practical and easy to made look good if you get the right color (black or white). Hard to go wrong with Lexus/Toyota quality too.

Mike there is a CTS-V forum why not just make an account and post in there and ask how bad the rear diff problem really is. I cruise that forum regularly and I know they prtty much have solved the wheel hop problem.

^^ Its TT, of course its going to make more power. But guess what, the MPG rating will also be lower than a N/A V8. Nothing is for free!

CTS-V: Unlike the new one, the first gen is just a vainalla CTS with the LS2 in it, nothing special (Yes I've driven it). I hated the base CTS too - it just wasn't comfortable at all to me. And the BRAKE PEDAL COMES IN THE WAY when lifting off the accelerator to brake. Why couldn't they move the damn pedal over to the left an inch?! (Rental automatic)

C5Z: Its faster than an LS2 C6, but slower than an LS3 C6( 08+ with 430hp vs 400).
C6: I'd buy an 08+ LS3 vette but I think that may be stretching it a bit.

GTO: Cheap (low 20s), excellent reliability. However its a Sports Tank. 3725lb curb weight! Oh and don't forget 16mpg mixed observed (dad owns one, its bone stock)

GS:Its old, and simply not my cup of tea, unless I plan on a 1 or 2jz with a big ass turbo.

G8: I've heard good things, but never driven one.

Why not look at a used 335? You can get one in the high 20s, low 30s I'm sure. I think its a better car than anything you've listed - and you can get a good 75hp from simple mods.

You can find a C5 or C6 for around that price.. but with crazy high miles.. thats for sure .... and the most common ones (color and packages ) also factors in... More rare colors and package combo may be a little more..

Plus I would be real careful buying a Vette with More then 40 or 50 k miles anyways.. Probably been rapped...

I paid $32k (including warranty) for my C5, with 20K miles with all the bells and whitles.. over a year ago..

out of those my vote would go to a g8. i hear, though i love them, that the ctsv's have tranny problems or rear end problems, something to that effect, cant really remember exactly.....

the g8 is an all around car, looks, ls motor that just begs to be modified, plenty of room, leather, the whole 9....the only thing that gets me about the g8's is theres no option for manual trans as of right now, best you can get is a 6spd auto that may have sport shift of some kind

gto's are great, i love mine, if i had to do it over though id look for a 05/06 with the ls2...but yet again, cant go wrong, the lsx's love mods and make gobs of power

in the end though if i had it to do over at this moment thered be a g8 gt in my driveway

Arm&hammer

id say get the gto because its the cheapest and pretty fast.
and from what ive heard they are pretty durable.

Given the choices you put up there, I'd go with the Lexus GS430. Not the choice I'd make if I weren't so limited though. Dunno why you're not a big fan of German's, but even leaving them out there's stuff you've left off the list that has possibilities.

Just as an example, Q45, which is admittedly old and bland looking. M45, which is hot and just as pimpable as the GS, and right in your price range with pretty low miles. Has a VK45DE, pretty good reliability, really good quality and is really pretty fun to drive. You really can get one with all the gadgets for around $30k used too. There's other stuff, but *shrug*

no alot fo transmission also have a shiftable gear...like a crap version of manual with no clutch. some its padel shifters overs its just either pressing teh shifter up or down or left to right! and in the case of the srt-8 its left to right!
