Nice. Shep went 8's like 6 years ago????? Why did it take so long. Aren't they the same engines? I'm probably wrong, that's why. :)

was he in an evo?!?!? thought he did talon/eclipse awd....they are the same motor or can be with head swap....if so i guess the big factor would be his 2100lbs chassis versus the 3400lbs(?)weight of evo...yall had one, what'd it weigh?

This is true. Plus Shep's car is a full race car. This guys white evo is a E-85 daily driver that dipped into the 8's with full interior, etc... That's what is so damn impressive! Also, it was made with all of the shelf parts.

It def had more in it than the 10's it ran. We didn't even have plans to go to the track the one day we took it. It was on a "street tune". One of our drift events got canceled, so we showed up on a whim. I think it would have def gone 9's on the same set up with just some more preparation to actually go to the track. MAYBE high 8's with some nicer suspension. Oh and we were on Nitto streets, not slicks....and stock transfer case. We would have broke something if we pushed it too much, for sure.
But no Shep wasn't in an Evo. It was a Talon. I just thought since like the R&D has already been proved on those engines, it's not as big of a deal. BUT an 8 sec, DD is sick. Oh but, it's an RS, those things are way light. Still sick though.
OH and Shep has all kinds of Buschur parts on his car, that's the other reason I asked.

Its stock! :lmfao: :lmfao: :lmfao: :lmfao:
BTW though that is bad ass....curious how much money does it take to make something like that? Also running it on e85...if that was pushed all out of race fuel and gutted, what would it run mid-low 7's?

X2 on the expenses part. How much does Buschur charge to build a 9 second pump gas monster? Someone told me, "If price is even a factor, then you shouldn't go there"

you can dream, but some dreams turn into nightmares in the blink of an eye..
i would have to guess around 15-20k in the motor and drivetrain.

Wow you serious thats its!
LOL my guess was for around $50,000! Every single person i have known with extreme high hp or mid to low 9 street cars had well over 40k into them!

^^ like i said... thats just the motor and drivetrain. im pretty sure it could all be done for under 30 with ease.

That's a farce and whomever told you that is very misinformed. Now if you want to take your car to AMS, then you better REALLY bring you checkbook. That shop has so much "visible" overhead that I'm unsure how they even turn a profit... :???: I've priced both shops a LONG time ago and AMS was atleast 20-30% over Buschur's pricing...for the same set-up. Also, it wasn't a cost decision as to why I choose Buschur. The proof is in the pudding.

but still whats a general round area that a 9sec street car from Buschur cost?

Actually I was thinking about AMS....I even saw a video where a guy from AMS was saying that for a high HP car. But 22k labor and parts for 9s isn't bad at all.

Building a 9.9 sec Evo can cost you $15,000-$40,000 depending on how deep your pockets are and how crazy you want to get with the build.
Different parts compliment each other and help performance. Some parts you need, some you don't. Some mods are more for "insurance" like stage 5 axles or built transfer case. You don't need them, but they are nice to have. You don't need a carbon fiber drive shaft either, but it sure is nice to have. Etc....
2.3 Evo 8
12-30-2008, 01:59 AM
Built 2.0l bottom end $3,000
Built head $1,600
cams-$600
Stock ported exhaust mani-FREE if you do the work
Stock ported intake mani-FREE if you do the work
used upper/lower pipe-$350
used Turbo kit-$2,200
injectors-$700
255 pump-$90
clutch-$900
used fmic-$500
Take all the extra weight out of your car-FREE if you do the work
Slicks/mounting-$780
used AEM-$1,000
$11,700 not including labor and fluids. You can probably find the used parts for even cheaper since times are tough for some people. Tons of part outs on the net.
This is as cheap as it gets though. This doesn't include a tranny build, tuning, axles, transfer case, etc...
It might stay together for 1 single 9.9 sec pass before something breaks. :lmfao:
Doubt it though!
