Well i've decided to build me a lil ole single cam so i got rid of the srt4 damn i miss that thing but anyway. My plans are to build the motor then buy the shell or maybe i should do it the other way around:thinking: . well the parts i plan on using are bisi stge 2 nitrous cams and springs, srp 10.5:1 pistons, eagle rods, maybe sleeve the block not sure yet. Also i plan on running either a 75 or 100 shot to get me atleast at 250whp maybe ill be running a chipped p28 ecu and get it tuned somewhere im still thinking on the most part, but i have all the parts ordered im just waiting for the motor to get here so it can go to the machine shop i know im crazy for wanting to build a sohc but hey idc:yes: :cheers: :2up: :bump:

LOL at least your being different man should be pretty quick.Get a crx and drop it Like I have said many times before.I have seen sohc beat gsr its all about driver and setup.Might wanna get that zc hybrid tranny dude was selling for 250$.When you dont have much power shorter trannys will help you stay in your powerband.Since alot of people say single cam trannys suck.

I find it fun and far more enjoyable to BUILD a car, rather than just buy one which is quick, but not fast enough for my taste therefore causing me to dump more money in it :). Besides that, I have less then 6K into my hatch, and making 350whp.
Good luck with the single slam build man. It would be in your best bet to look for a shorter tranny, the ZC Previously mentioned, or atleast an SI sohc trans. Either way, good luck!

I'm building a NA setup for a friend right now (its still in the planning stages) and another friend is going to build and boost.
With a built bottom end, you could safely spray alot more than a 100 shot.

SOHC's are the way to go. Because they are slept on more than anything else out there.

why does everyone use eagle rods. To be able to correctly use eagle;s you must torque them three times to spec then have them line bored. It costs $250+ to get that done, so with the cost of your new eagle rods and having them fixed, you could have Carillo's, Pauter's, Crower's etc.
The reason you have to line bore them is because when they build the rods they bore them, then install the ARP studs. By doing things in this order you ovalize the lower part of the rod. Making them 100% more prone to spin bearings. And if they are not ever done then you will continue to spin bearings without ever knowing why.

Scat makes the lightest D series rods... which is something to consider when building a SOHC.

Well after researching on d-series.org came to a conclusion that i dont need most of the parts in my opening statement to get me to my power goal. So with that said this is what ill be using in my build
p29 pistons 75.5mm should put me in 12.5:1 compression range
bisimoto stage 2 cam and springs
bore block .20 over
milled head .40
get a 3angle valve job
pnp head as well
shot peened rods (stock) lightened to same weight as crank
stock intake mani
stock injectors
and bolts on and get a tune
That should put me in low 13s in a crx!!!!!
d series ftw bitches and wont even cost me that much

All motor maybe 12s who knows:ninja:

You were talking nitrous at the beginning... build the motor to grow with you. TRUST me when I say go aftermarket on the slugs. 13s NA sounds great - but not gonna happen unless you put the car on a serious diet. Not to mention, 13s NA isn't as kool as 13s NA and 12s on the nitrous.
