the zr1 is 50k more than the gt-r.

Thats like getting an m3 and a miata and drag racing them. Of couse the m3 will win, it has a bigger engine, more hp, but also costs a lot more.

whoopdy doo......

I'm not trying to take anything away from the zr1, it's a great car, but one shouldn't think badly of a car because it a car that's 50k more is faster. That's all.

the phrase best bang for the buck comes to mind....

i personally think the GTR is overrated, yea its quick, but no where near what people think it is.
kinda glad to see it got spanked by a few bus lenths.
zr1 on the other hand, its straight getting it on the the straights, but how about a road course?

umm.......the zr1 will beat the gtr on a roadcourse too.personally, i don't know if the zr1 could do it. it just might be "overpowered" when it comes to the corners. the GTR will mos def have the advantage with the awd, allowing it to take corners, i'd say, at some pretty high speeds.
on the flip side though, the zr1 may have enough power to where it will have a gain on the gtr in the straights, where the corners may not really matter, due to the fact the gtr may not have what it takes to catch back up to the zr1.

and a test between the 2 on the laguna seca would be fucking sweet.

i was thinking more like, tsukaba(sp?), road atl, laguna seca, ect. a course where there are some curves, and doesn't have long ass straights where one car would just walk the other, but something that would make it a challenge and actually push the cars to the limits and really test the overall balance of the vehicle.

What? Tsukuba? Tsukuba is flat go cart track. The only thing it proves is how much big wings and spoilers help in a lap time. Road Atlanta is just as bad of an example. It is a much shorter track than the ring and the back straight would let the Vette's top end walk away from the GTR. Even Laguna Seca can't stack up to all around test that you get from the ring.

The Nurburgring has over 170 corners and most of them are off camber and are always changing elevation. This means you are peddling the throttle most of the way through looking for grip.

There is only 1 true straight away. Don't let all the lastest nonsense of publicity the ring has gotten in the past few years mess up the fact that the Nurburgring northloop is the best race track in the world. It was never sanitized like modern GP tracks and it is still the ultimate challenge to a driver period.

Seriously, most of these turns take more bravery to take flat rather than just skill.

it would show which car has the better balance, acceleration, deceleration, cornering and braking. not just hitting some straights where the more powerful car could take lead, and keep it.

That video is fucking stupid. The 599 Ferrari weights a lot more more. I forgot what ad it was but it showed a few hundred pounds MORE than the vette, maybe it was in comparison just to the Z06 but still a lot more than the ZR1.

Now the ACR isn't a drag car. Chevy cares more about that than Dodge (IMO) The ACR is bred to take corners at very high speeds. :goodjob::goodjob:
