original got deleted b/c there were links advertising his blog/site... maybe its just me but some guy out west owned all of these rides happens to be coming to ATL and feels to need to name drop his site for traffic... not trying to be a dick just the obvious.

either way nice cars - enjoy the boards.

Like my original thread said, been to ATL, have friends there, came across this forum and wanted to share and meet other enthusiasts. I have been lucky to race at different tracks around the west and travel to different countries doing Gumball 3000 and Bullrun. Last year I ran Bullrun from Montreal to Key West. We had a stop in Savannah. In 2004 I did a caravan from Tennessee to Nopi where I stayed with the Rockford Fosgate boys at the race track.

Just sharing some love. If I registered with a personal name and had urbanracer watermarks, would have not been a issue. I am not here to sell anything. Hope you like the cars.

Here are some pics from the above described trips.

Old school for me LOL. I had that car in 2003. It was one of the first fully built EVO's in the country. We even did the CWEST full JDM EVO VII kit. Notice the hood and bumper!

Never designed cars for Hot Wheels. Sounds like a fun job though :)

I was waiting for it, I guess you'd have to have owned a subaru for a while to know the backstory.

Nice cars though, the 335i with the blue wheels is hot. That A3 should be hotter, but something about it rubs me the wrong way, I think its the sideskirts and front bumper.

Big Baller - Please share your story? Nobody steals money here.

Thanks for the comments on the cars. The A3 I really like the front bumper. The rear bumper is what I am off about. The 335I was cool. It was just so new that we never did anything with it and decided to move on. I think my favorite project so far is the 2008 WRX we did.

RHD - your car looks awesome. When I sell my A3, I think I want to build a BANANAS integra or civic for no reason like this. Some are telling me to get the new Hyundai Genesis, but I only want the 997TT for a major project right now. I like the A3 cause it is the DSG shifting so you can drive it easily for family.

What would you get next? Price range under $30K. Can be wagon, sedan, or 2 door.

The new 911's come with PDK. Which is similar in driving style as the DSG just with better performance characteristics. Sadly enough it is not yet availible for the Turbo models. But the new facelifted 997's are DFI ontop of the PDK tranny. But again not yet with the Turbo.

Right now with my circumstances I would probably purchase a used STi. Just because I will be moving back to New England soon and need a winter car. But if that wasn't an issue I would probably buy a Porsche 930 or if Im lucking enough to find one a 964.

What are you looking to get?

You asked for the Horror stories, here you go...you want me to post them one after another or do you just want a couple

Heres my experience with Vivid Racing.com

I can officially say now that Vivid Racing has been by far the worst company I've ever delt with.
Lets start from the basics.
Late August, ordered from their website the RA gearset, Cryo Treated and all. Thier website listed the item as in stock. I called to make sure. Nope, not in stock. Fine, that's normal. Still continued with the order even tho people on NASIOC were telling me not to. I should have listened to them. My mistake. About 5 days later, I ordered full 17 pc bearing set, and 5 pc syncro set.
About 3 months go by, Evan who I've delt with promises me the gearsets are on the way. Meanwhile, you would like the non back ordered parts, the bearings and syncros would be there quicker. You thought wrong. I get the gearset, wait about another month, this is month 3, get the bearings... almost done, I'll be done in time to drive to Alb for Christmas. Boy was I wrong. December came, no syncros, that lost me money there because now I had to purchase plane tickets to Alb. Late December, I FINALLY get the syncros. This is month 5. Meanwhile, after calling Evan every week, and getting nowhere, I thought yes I'm finally done with Vivid. WRONG.
Turns out today when I had given the gearset and parts to Baca National Transmission, that 3rd gear is messed up. Appearently it's 2 thousandths of an inch off, and somethings wrong with the cut of the gear. (Some transmission talk I didn't understand). This is now month 6. Vivid still had their dck in my a$$ (figuritorly speaking)(sp? f off)... So I call Vivid today. Wierd, Evans voice mail doesn't work. I call the main number. They said Evan doesnt work with vivid anymore. Ok, So now You're handling my problem I told the rep. He said "It's out of our hands contact Rally Spec" and gave me their number. This first off is a terrible business move. I bought the parts through VIVID, they should be my point of contact and not push me off to their company they order through. Very bad business I thought. So now I've got to deal with Rally myself instead of Vivid who shipped me off to another company. First and Last time I'll EVER deal with Vivid, and I'll make sure to let NASIOC and all the other subaru websites about it.

I recently ordered from Vivid. They were advertising a clearance sale on a Borla header. I told them I needed it overnighted as I was on a tight deadline, and I wanted to make sure it was being shipped in time for me to get it the next day.

I was assured it was shipping. Later that day they called and said the item had already been shipped and they didn't realize it. Then they suggested that they could get another one for me from Borla....it would be more expensive since the price had gone up, and it would take several days.

Guys this is a Bait and Switch operation. I have contacted the Attorney General....and they have started an investigation.

I then ordered from Sparktec because they said they had an OBX header in stock and ready to ship.....4 days later.....nothing....and they won't answer and email.

Now I'm finally looking at every thread in this area, to figure out who the buttwipes are.....in the end it will probably save me a lot of time and frustration.

I'm now probably going to have to go to a special show that only happens once a year, with a factory header.

Name 1 shop on the planet that has no unsatisified customers w/ posts to back up their frustration online. What determines a shitty shop (to ME) is how they come to amicable terms when things go wrong (when u work on cars things WILL go wrong --- PERIOD, you can't get around that). ALSO, when you are working w/ suppliers in this industry and are told "YES" on the phone, you trust them at their word and tell the customer "YES" and you get stiffed by your supplier/manufacturer. I got popped like this b/c my distributor would drop ship from THEIR warehouse w/ MY logo --- so in my mind YES THAT ITEM is in stock if it's sitting in "my" warehouse. The days of stocking 200k worth of hardware on-site just doesn't happen in this industry anymore and customers need to be more patient. Also - the example youposted the guy shorted HIMSELF by trying to get to a show (that prob was advertised for at least 6 months) at the last minute. That's one reason why I only use my companies wholesale connections to finish MY projects anymore b/c customers can be a bitch. The truth of the matter is this - you can find ANYTHING you want to find on the net if that's indeed what you are looking for. Every GA Shop has their hate threads. No way around it. I like the people w/ PERSONAL gripes to step up --- that means more to me than digging around online. BigBaller that is no knock on you bc we have always had favorable interaction homey.

I'll add some pics to this thread.

I went out to CA to grab a Wagovan, and of course I decided to hang out in Phoenix for about 3 months - LOL. I couldn't resist. Upon getting the Wago back to AZ, there were only 2 shops to choose from to get things done -- Vivid, and Full-Race... and I got goodies from both while I was in town and got wrenches turned at both shops while I was there.

So - I pull up to Vivid - I saw some slow cars in the parking lot.

If yoru shop isn't innovative and are doing the same things you did 10 years ago it won't be long before your doors will close. You have to think "how can I set myself apart from the 200 other shops that are earning a living doing what I am doing)

Hey pretty funny pics LOL. I remember that car being there. That is our old place. After 7 years and leasing, we finally bought our own building, it is 15,000 sqft. We did construction and moved in September 08. Check out the YouTube Video here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOdeASoCsyM

Here is the link to Nasioc (http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=58) where you can read all the reviews on all the vendors. Many things are posted negative. Our story is a unique one there. I know we never stole, ripped off, or did any criminal activity EVER. What I can say is that since 2001 we have grown up, grown our business, and if we were such bad people, we would not be where we are at today. To sell $10million a year, be profitable, and still be going, I feel fortunate. There is bad and good in every situation. Its how you learn and handle a situation that makes you a better person and business.

This thread is not a Vivid debate thread, but since you posted some negatives, here are some positives. I am 1 of 2 owners and 1 sales person out of 25 people total at Vivid. I try to set a good example.

He is NOT ADVERTISING, he is simply just posting up pictures and showin' off what he's done in the past. People are funny. Choose your fucking battles --- sheesh. Not all of them are worth fighting.

VIVID - if you want to sell products, you pay just like the other sponsors. I am sure you are aware of that. Furthermore - a nat'l sponsor would be great to have on here. As long as you treat customers right - most people will be happy to have you onboard the RIGHT way. I'm sure that it would benefit our community and prob benefit you as well. If not, enjoy your stay as a regular member.

DISCLAIMER: I did not mention IA nor did I invite VR here... just HAPPENED that I was getting the Fagovan dialed in at their shop this year and at Full Race (just in case some people think otherwise I wanted to get that out there --- LOL). The Wagovan checks the f*ck out for what it is, and I have no complaints w/ VR or FR.

I really don't understand all the negativity toward the business; find me 1 business that hasn't had a complaint or upset customers, just 1. All the feedback is much appreciated, gives us a bit of a history on his business, but why not let him build his own rep on the boards instead of creating it for him. Feedback is feedback.....for buyers to read and make up their mind. How would a current sponsor on here feel if i had bad experience with them and purposely blew off all the customers the shop might get? I don't, i give my opinion and move on.

Well looky who I found when I was looking through my Entrpreneur Startups issue for this Spring - some ugly ass guy in a red hat named Dan.:D

From pushing parts out of a college dorm in 1998 to over $10 million in sales in 2008. FUCK YOU!!!

You are literally living one of my early dreams man... I started "Serious Customs" when I was in the Air Force doing the same thing - pushing parts. Ebay killed me --- not that I couldn't re-design my plan and re-attack b/c I made a killing on eBay as well... I was just deployed too much (averaged 200 days a year in some1 else's fucked up country shooting down bad guys). I don't envy the speed shop owners anymore... that was another time for me, but I DO still get this mag for a reason (I have my own I.T consulting firm). It was cool to see your ugly ass in the back --- good stuff.:goodjob:
