View Full Version : Wheel color...

My plan with my factory wheels is to paint them one of two colors. Only because I have the trim rings will be the reason for doing so. My main goal was to have them painted to match the car. Only problem is, after going up to the shop that's painting the wheels, I find out that the guy can't match the factory paint color. He has one sort of close, but not that close and it's metallic. I don't want metallic. So now I'm thinking of just going with painting the wheels black.

Like this:

I'm thinking I like the black rims now. What's the consensus here? Later, QD.

Black would look great. Then we'd be matching. :)

Everything else was going to stay black regardless. Thanks for the input, homey.

And thanks to Rev and F8d. Later, QD.

yea i wasn't sure if you had/have plans to paint everything else the same color as the car when you get/got it painted.

Everything that's chrome will remain chrome and everything blue will be blue and everything black will remain black. Later, QD.

I think black would be the way to go. Can't really go wrong with black rims for the most part.:goodjob:

No way on painting the car black. And more no way on painting anything on it red. Worst color in the world. Later, QD.

If the car is going to be light blue, imo a nice polished rim would look way nicer than black. I think it would really keep the old school flava better. But it is your car, obviously so do what pleases you.

I don't think the factory "steelie" rim would look good polished. That's why I have the chrome rings. Also, the car pictured above is in factory condition with the black wheels.

Thanks for the input, though, man. Later, QD.

I'll admit, I think doing the CVCC black, with black wheels with chrome trim rings would be pretty badass.

That would involve changing the interior to black though. With the woodgrain dash inserts?

you might find what appears to be vanilla ice cream stains in the car :ninja:

LOL, i see what you mean there :ninja:

Hehehe.

And stormhammer, there are three reason why I won't paint the car black. 1)I don't want it black. 2)Black wasn't an optional color for the car so it would be away from going to look stock. And I won't mention the third.

I am doing the wheels black, though. Thanks for all the inputs/opinions. Later, QD.

Yeah I saw those already and would like to get them, but the set I have will suffice and mine were brand new, lolol. Thanks for the look out. Later, QD.

i think that if you werent going with the complete OEM look but didnt wanna make it too ballin-looking, some black HX wheels would do it justice.

If I wanted to do an HX wheel set up, I'd have to do a complete lug conversion. If I went to that much trouble, I wouldn't us a factory Honda wheel, lolol. Later, QD.

QD - how about you get your car repainted first and then ask again.

It's hard - at least in my opinion - to judge how well say - black with the chrome rings - would look on the car with the shade of blue it is. I'm not personally sure if it would really suit the car.

true that. i dont know what bolt pattern it is stock. i just suggested it because its the lightest and IMO cleanest looking OE honda wheel there is. it would really suit the car nicely, again, IMO.

Black wheels + chrome rings WOULD be nice.

OR you could do black wheels & paint the rings to match the color of the car.

My stock lug pattern is 4x120. They stopped that pattern in 1979. There is a whole list of parts, from several different Hondas over several different years, along with some cutting and welding to do to convert to 4x100. I'm not really after all that, lolol. And like you said, I don't want anything modern on that car.

Oh God, no! If you could realize how long it takes to find these rings in perfect shape, you'd slap yourself with a hollowed out Georgia Tech physiology book filled with seahorse droppings and Hersey's kisses. Lolol. Later, QD.

I would go with the black or a charcoal gray wheel. The dark gray would look nice with the blue paint and would look nice with the beauty bands. I think color matched would look funny.
