Its one thing to jokingly be an asshole... to do so for real only shows your colors, and I'll definitely remember this in the future.

regardless, the story goes my wholesaler told me to hop in and take it for a spin, and i happily did so not knowing the rear tires were completely bald, plus my detailer turned TCS off before I drove the car. because the tires were shot and traction control was off, taking a slight s-curve at about 60 caused the ass end to get squirrely. I tried to correct before it developed into a spin, but underestimated the M3's steering and ate a curb.

From what I understand from the M car guys, TCS being off is probably 100% to blame for initiating the spin, and im sure the tires didn't help one bit... and forgive me for not having pro driver reflexes to get out of the spin in the .02 seconds i had to react... we all make mistakes, and im fronting the costs.

I'm repairing it out of pocket, and it will be fixed by Friday. Already have a full set of M3 wheels sitting in the shop, LCAs and bushings arriving tomorrow, and picking up a new OEM radiator tomorrow too, and having the bumper sprayed before the weekend. End of story. No, I'm not in the unemployment line, still gainfully employed, though thank you all SOOO much for your concern :rolleyes:

I had been pestering him to let me drive it and he finally gave in, its my fault. It wasnt part of my job responsibility to drive it, because we'd already sold it to him, our wholesaler. Cant go through the company, because we're keeping it low-key, and if we made a claim id definitely lose my job. My managers dont want that any more than I do, so I'm paying for it... using all OEM parts, all BNIB other than the wheels.. for WAYYYYY cheaper than it should be. Industry connections ftw.

The picture isn't very indicative of the overall treadwear on the tires - despite the appearance to the contrary in the one picture, they're pretty damn shot, and combined with the TCS issue, trust me - thats what caused it. I'm no pro driver by any means, but I'm confident enough in my skills, and this wasn't even a sharp turn at all, and i wasn't at a very high speed... had those two factors been different, i can 100% guarantee it wouldn't have happened... I'm not blaming this 100% on those 2 factors - my own skill certainly came into play, no doubt... but im just saying, those factors are what initiated the problem, and my inability to react quickly enough is what caused me to eat it.

As for the cost, for those who are asking... looking like about 1.5k, which is actually stupid cheap considering the damages incurred - ive been quite lucky in getting good deals, and luckily i have good help as far as labor is concerned for the stuff that gets a bit daunting for me considering my inexperience. Interestingly enough, Marta Mike has given me more time and help than anyone else, and I couldn't appreciate it more.

so i spent my day off in the shop today fixing the M. replaced the radiator, replaced the pad wear sensor, replaced the LCAs, and got the rear discs off and started replacing the parking brake expander. The LCAs proved a ridiculous hassle... the rear diff had to be dropped just to get them out. In the morning I should be able to wrap it up and get it to the body shop to get the bumper taken care of, and then i should hopefully be completely through with it.

its worth noting to those following this thread that marta mike busted his ass helping me for several hours of his own time today... theres no way I would have been able to do it without him.
