SO here is the story. When I was 14 years old, my dad bought me a 1983.5 Shelby Dodge Charger n/a H.O 2.2. Is was a basket case, rusted out, engine had so much detonation the pistons melted, so we junked it. I like that car so much for being so different since everyone has Honda's back then.

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y217/BoostedHonda/DSC_0115-1.jpg

But after numerous cars after that. It took me 6 years to find another on. I finally found this a 1986 Shelby Dodge Charger, this is the non-intercooled turbocharged version. They are known as the first USDM sport compact cars back in the day.

It's different, ugly and rare and perfect for me.
haha.

2.2 SOHC, 8 valves, standard t3 turbo. And butt loads of torque.

A couple links here for more in depth information about it.

I looked at one of these a month ago. It was in perfect condition inside and out with a newish motor and brand new paint. I like the hard to find cars but there was no way I could come up with the cash.

They are really good looking and rare cars. Good luck with the project.

Cool car. I wanted one of those bad, back in the day. I actually test drove a brand new Dodge GLH once. I thought it was very pimp. I kinda wish I'd bought it. Maybe one day I'll run across one that's not been molested.

Nice about how much money to get into the Mid 12 seconds like the red one on that guy's website?

The motor does not have to be "beefed" up as much as I thought to get it into the mid 12 seconds.

I would have to say no more than $1,500 bucks including the price of the car ($500). He had alot of used parts he used on his red daytona.

And you know what the awesome part when I bought this car? The previous owner gave me almost a complete spare interior. Im talking about everything, front CS seats, rears CS seats, brand new OEM Shelby stickers, climate contro, arm rest and etc...

Im pretty sure you mean what are my plans for it? Well first thing first I plan on replacing all the seals on the doors, etc. Mostly little things here and there to make it more road worthy. I swear this car has more vacuum lines than 6 civics put together. I don't want to be in a position chasing down a cracked vacuum line, I'll be in big trouble. Then I plan on doing a TII conversion, intercooler, bigger turbo, basically upgrades from there.

I just ordered a Turbounleased 3in exhaust, Flowtech muffler, Dawes Devices Fuel Cut defender, and other little stuff. I'll have pictures up once they come in, and once there installed. Hopefully I can get them installed before the 31st, so I can run it at SDR.

I went to the SDR today for the first test and tune, and I ran a 15.0 @ 91mph!!! FU*K YEA!!!!!!! Sorry im excited for getting that time, I literally dropped 1 second off my first pass. And this is completely stock, 2in crush bent exhaust that's it. The reason why Im so surprised to run what I did was b/c the SAE rate hp is only 145hp for these cars. Pictures will come soon!

I got it already, I'm just awaiting to install the TurboUnleashed 3in exhaust, 2.5in Downpipe and Flowtech muffler. I still have to get a 3in to 2.5 reducer for the dp to the exhaust, and a 3in swing valve for the turbo. The stock 1.something inch swingvalve is not going to maintain the boost when I install the 3in exhaust. The boost gauge and boost controller installed already. And I'm going to install the Dawes Device (Fuel Cut Defender) here pretty soon.

Maybe you should pick it up? Then your name "QuickDodge" could mean that you have a quick dodge :goodjob:

Edit: there is two in Hiram, GA that this guy is selling for pretty cheap. One is a black and silver with no engine, and the other is a good running silver and blue Shelby Charger. The Silver/Blue Shelby Chargers are more rare due to Chrysler only making 439 in 1985 and 387 in 1986. He wants around 1 grand for the silver one. Someone should pick it up!

I ran it at SDR last weekend, made a awesome first pass.

I got in the 14's! Lol, I tried for a second pass I thought I missed 2nd...but i realized the clutch was slipping instead. 3rd it slipped under boost, So I called it a day. At least I went home with a 14 second timeslip, or should I say limped home...lol. So now it's time for a better clutch, and I will do my homemade modifying to the engine mounts...:goodjob: It will be ready for ImportShowdown

UPDATE:

In the process of changing the clutch. It was a b*tch taking this trans out. It took me about 10 hours to take the trans out. I can usually drop a trans in a Honda in about 2 hours and have everything done. But with this dodge...geez I didn't know it would be this hard.

Anyway, got the clutch and pressure plate out to inspect it and it looks like the clutch glazed over. And maybe the pressure plate failed on me too. Also the flywheel has hairline cracks, so i'll be taking that to the local machine shop to get it re-surfaced.

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!

Well I knew it was going to happen sooner or later... My trans is giving out. I have no second gear, it's hard to get it into 1st, and reverse. The 525 trans are known for being stupendously weak. The first thing in the Turbo-Mopar community do to these turbo L bodies is swap the trans. The 200lbs plus torque will weaken the hell out of these things. The GLHS intercooled version of this car and the Omni has the 555 trans with the Getrag forged gears. :( Damnit!

Might sell it, or park it in my uncles property. Anyone want to buy a low mile, 6k mile on a rebuilt engine rare Shelby? I'll sell it cheap, and with all my goodies I have for it.
What shall I do? I need transportation, I have two jobs working 45+ hours a week, and still go to school full time.

I mean I can find one. But it will take some time searching for one. Just like any other old school car. Which time is something I don't have. But All of these turbo-mopar tuners are up north where they were produced. Im sure if I was up north in Ohio, I bet I could get one real quick.
