Well I had a great time today in the hatch and took a few pics. Pictures didn't turn out all that great but still gives you an idea of the cars that were there. This was a great event and if you haven't been to it you should think about going next year.

Yeah Doug from Topspeed was nice enough to let me drive his 08 STI since my car is down. I've got to tell you that is one fast automobile for a street car.

Thanks most of the credit goes to the boys at Topspeed...very well setup car. Doug is going to make a couple of changes to it, I suspect it will go faster. I've now spent a total of 20 minutes in the car including today so I was a little timid my first session. With another hour or so it would go sub 1:05, with a couple of suspension tweaks it will probably go very close to 1:04 flat.

lol calm down grasshopper i was just asking. theres no doubt that the car was fast and driven well. just wondering what the deal with that was.

neovas are a good tire for what they are. theres ALOT faster street tires, but they wont last near as long.

by street tire i mean a tire that has actual tread. lol. bridgestone re-01s, toyo ra-1s/r888s, hancook whatevers. as far as a REASONABLE street tire, azenis rt-615s are GREAT tires but only in dry conditions. i know technically hoosier r6's are "street legal"... but really...? lol

RE01s no so much, R888s are pretty good and I haven't tested them back to back, 615s aren't even close. As far as real street tires go I would say Michelin PS2s are the only other thing I would run.

The 888 is pretty much a track day only tire kinda like the a048

yeah, even on an e30 or something which by my standards in on the heavy end of light they do very well one they get heat in them. its easy to overdrive them and get 1-2 badass laps and then have them fall to shit and cover themselves in afro-sheen...

i was officially hooked today.

never taken my car to a road course before, but after today i cant wait to get back. i went with fawk_you(na miata), ron(sr20 silvia) and ryan, owner of ccr. these two really helped to teach me how to drive my car on a course like this. i still have a ton to learn, but after the 3rd session i felt confident behind the wheel and really wanted to push the car. it was an amazing experience and i highly reccomend it to anyone.

i do feel bad for my bank account though, as this new addiction isnt going to help.

Nice pics. 105.4 is moving, although you should go back with a hot lap to really get an accurate time! IIRC a friend of mine was doing 1:06's in his 996 Turbo with around 500 hp and R comps compared to my 1:08's-1:09's. Hopefully my car is faster now with the changes but I haven't been back.

It's a shame no one was doing any official timing. I hear it was done randomly by stop watches...ehh not very accurate.

Thought this thread was about pics.... I only see a few and then a lot of bickering.

Matt kindly gave me his spot in the event since I hadn't pre registered. In return we were going to split up the track time. I did two sessions and he did two sessions, just turned out his second sessions was the timed event. Everyone talking about hired drivers is just funny... anyone ever heard of sandbagging? We do it all the time in the Redline series, you just can't put it all out on the table till the last session. ;)

I thought it was a great event and very well organized. While the timing was less than ideal for a pro event, we have to remember that this was all for fun. And that everyone was being timed the same way so the margin for error was the same across all competitors.

Hopefully sometime in Spring we (TopSpeed) will put on a Time Attack event for the local crowd. But with less people and more track time.

Doug

I did 1:05.4

Although your car is quick, I had to disagree that your time is accurate. How could you possibly be ~3-4 secs faster then the rest of the group? I would believe your time if the people that were actually suppose to be timing did their job properly.

When I was sitting in the box trying to warm up, I over-heard two gentlemen over the radios indicating that only the black 350z and the blue 350z be timed as it "appears" that they are running the fastest of that session.

Don't take this as an insult, I'm only giving you my view on yesterday's event.

LOL I love this, would you like full disclosure on why my last session was faster because I can give you the full break down.

1. Thats not my car

2. My first session in that car was the first time I have ever driven an 08 STI

3. I probably have between 20 and 30 days on little tally.

4. I adjusted my driving style and line to suit the problems that the car had ( I altered my line to prevent the inside wheel spin that we were having because of the suspension setup and massive grip the car has)

5. Before I went out for that session Doug said..."Its a lot more fun to win"

6. I'm that good

7. The car will go 1:04.9 with the exact setup thats on there I just need more time in the car.

I also wanted to say that everyone in the final 7 drove very well, I think everyone dropped their time over their last session. Big props to the LS1 Miata driver he didn't have much tire and its hard to put down that kind of power without some skill.

So you guys know how lucky you are its pretty rare to see that many cars at an event go sub 1:08, I don't think I've ever seen more than two or three.

6. My driver is that good

fixed. You didn't accomplish a 1.05 lap time, your driver did. Therefore, your car is capable of those "so called accurate" lap times. Regardless of what you say, I beg to differ on how accurate the lap times actually were. Last time I had checked, the black Z33 the krypton green Exige S and the CLK Black Series were the fastest of the day and they were running 1.08's. For you to run a full 3 secs faster makes it hard to believe considering the drivers of the three cars I mentioned above had very good drivers behind the wheel as well.

Are you just trying to get your hater merit badge. My driver was me dumb ass, it was Dougs car...he let me borrow it. You must not be able to read very well, I only drove the car a total of 17 laps yesterday, 10 the second session where the tower said I went 1:09...which is probably right I was being pretty conservative since we had to drive it back. Then I drove it 6 or 7 laps in the final session at which point Doug told me he wanted to win. I went 1:05.4 on my 3rd lap, with my second slowest time 1:06.1 still would have won the event.

I'm not really sure what your problem is or why you have such a hard time beliving that we ran that fast...and we did it on street tires, god knows we would have been atleat 1.5 maybe two seconds faster on Hoosiers.

If you want to put some cash on the line I've got 1000 dollars that says I can run a 1:04 in that car.

Edit.
The drivers of those cars were very good and this is in no way taking away from them, they all ran very respectable lap times. But what you don't understand is, I put over 20k miles on a 06 STi last year, I know how to drive, I'm not a Pro but I'm pretty good.

LOL at the haters getting beat by an almost stock subaru. So what two people split the track time in that car, both were good enough to win.

For you to run a full 3 secs faster makes it hard to believe considering the drivers of the three cars I mentioned above had very good drivers behind the wheel as well.i was the one clocking him in the last section each car had at least one person timing them. if anyone video the run you could varify it from there. now everyone stfu.

also if it was such a big deal about timing from the event everyone was free to go up in the booth and time who ever the fuck they want. or more importantly get someone to time them. fuck this is stupid.

Cool pics!

I think the Neova's are the best street tire i've ever used. I'm getting another set for the new rims I just bought.
