Brake Pedal Sinking To Floor.

Just need some advice.
No recent brake work done, and the fluid is staying full.
Any suggestions on what to start with? bleed, master cylinder?

IF it has just started, its very likely the seals in your master cylinder are going bad. Can you pump the break pedal back to the top? It could also be a leak in the system, seized slide pins on the calipers, or even bad caliper / wheel cylinders.

You could def start by trying to bleed the system and maybe you'll see cause while you're in there.

Also, check to make sure one of your brake lines didn't rupture. Any leak in the system will cause no back pressure. Look and make sure you're not leaving brake fluid spots where you're parked.

Slave cylinder. Cheap fix prob around $16-30 at a parts store.

A small leak will lead to the pedal sticking to the floor, and minimal fluid disappearing.

Ya def a leak in tha hydrualic system..

Do you have drum brakes? could be leaking wheel cylinder

But most likely an internal master cylinder leak prolly tha primary cup seal

Can you pump the break pedal back to the top?

It comes back up on its own. But I do have to pump it to get pressure back on the disks once it sinks down so far. Its like pushing into a giant sponge.



Someone told me I could rebuild the mc, cheaper Im sure, but how hard is it to do? Or would it be easier to go to pullapart and replace the whole thing?

Just add some viagra to your brake fluid and it will be up in no time..

probally wheel cylinder i thought it was a master cylinder to tell i pulled my drums off...

first try bleeding the whole system all for calipers thats ur best place to start at before u change anything sounds like theres alot of air in the system:goodjob: let me know how it goes

I would try another master what kind of car is it?
