I just bought a Sidekick II form a friend. He told me all I have to do is get a new SIM card. Then the bastard tells me that he hadn't paid his bill in 4 months and they turned off his services, but that shouldn't be an issue if I get my own SIM card. Is this true?? I have no clue because I have benn using Sprint for 5 years? Any help is appreciated!

Thanks
Simeon

i'm no phone tech but as far as i know the SIM card is what controls the phone...i've used my SIM card in other peoples phones when my battery was dead and it moves all of my phonebook and such to that phone and when i'd call people my number would show up

i think the SIM card is kinda like a portable ESN...but who knows, that may be just for cingular

But his bill has nothing to do with you. bills are attached to customers not to phones. You can take the sidekick to any tmobile store or dealer to have it activated/sim card. To save money with the sidekcik IF YOU DONT USE The INTERNET is to turn off data plan and get unlimited text for like 6.00 a month that means unlimited AIM for just 6.00 monthly plus your airtime fees . saving about 30.00 LOL

One last question, since I live in Charlotte, NC and T-mobile doesn't exist out here, where would I be able to get the sim card? Even if I got one off of ebay I would still have to activate ita t a T-mobile store. Can I just buy the sim card directly from t-Mobile's web site?

you pay 6 for a 1k messages. As far as the sim card im sure you could get one straight from tmo. But if i were you i wouldnt use a company who didnt have a store in your town. But thats just me.

Worthless you'll be paying roaming fees mostly unless you get regional plans which are more expensive. I have the sidekick and I pay $20 xtra on top of my plan for the service which it gives you E-mail, unlimited internet, unlimited text messaging, etc.
