i worked there for about a year at the forest park hub. that place will kill your body fast. the summers in the trucks loading it hell. if its 80 outside its 100 inside the truck. winters are just as bad. the best spot is sort. only problem is its really fast pace sink or swim kinda thing. u have to be twice as fast as the guy unloading the truck to u. finding labels matching them with belts and then getting them on the belt. thats easy to do with small boxes but the large boxes are the 1s that will get u behind. if i had to do it all over again id would have never filled out the app. to this day my shoulder and back still aint right. i was there about 9 years ago.

i worked there for a week and a half. hurt myself unloading a trailer of Sauder bookcases that weighed from 29 to 150 pounds. they gave me 3 days off. when i came back ready to wrk (my shoulder/arm/back wasnt hurting at the time), they fired me saying "we cant use you". Dude, u dnt know slave labor til you wrk there. Show up 1 minute late and u might not have a spot to wrk. they over schedule everyday. 1st ones there get the spot. they clock ur 10 min breaks and run u out of the break room. they yell the whole time "hurry up and get thet truck unloaded!!" When u finish ur truck, they send u to help somebody else unload their trailor while they bring u another full one. its non stop.

i couldndt bend to sit in my car to go home after my first night it hurt dso bad. and im far from a weak ass dude. Good luck. Take the job but keep looking incase ur body cant take it.

i worked there for about 8 months in phoenix, lost 45 lbs, and you want to talk about work, it was 120 degrees out side and 145 in trailers where i loaded.

Everyday you would hear a loud THUD, and it was someone passing out from heat exhaustion.

It was SLAVE work i was in the busiest trailer in the place and most times i was by myself. i was loading 3000-4000 packages a shift , its back breaking and fast paced.

but, after 4 months i moved up to a Cornerstone trainer, then its easy street

as it has been said before, the work sucks bad, but in this economy, take what you can get while you keep searching.

I worked at UPS before as a package handler too. This was about 8 years ago. Everything said by the others is definitely true. It was a second job that i would work after an 8-5 job. It was the hardest i have ever worked, for real. This was in Tampa in the summer and the trucks would be over 120 degrees and you worked non-stop, I don't recall ever getting to take a break. I would drink over 5 gallons of water in a 4 hour shift and NOT HAVE TO USE THE BATHROOM. That is how much i would sweat. Crazy. Slave like work. If i recall correctly, the pay was actually pretty decent for what it was but down in Tampa it was only a 20 hour job with no possibility of extra hours.

Not sure if they still do, but they provided full health benefits after 90 days or something like that, even part-time people. Thats why I took the job. I worked for a month and then my wife got a full time job with benefits so i happily called them up and said i wasn't coming in anymore.

I'm looking for work now and would try to get back in, but i heard that you get blacklisted if you quit and they will never rehire you.

My advice, take the job and leave when you find something else.

Under Paid Slaves.

worked at the forest park hub for 3 months and quit after hurting my back. everything everyone has told u is the truth and if u cant handle all the work then ur better of working at Micky D's for the amount of money. u will work like a hebrew slave for nothing cuz u will only work 4hrs. max a day and at the end of the week u get anywhere from $95-$125 a week.

I used to be a driver helper during the holiday season. It's alot more fun.All you have to do is bring the package and drop in the house.Try applying for that position insted.

i worked there foar about a year and 3 months. i did Unload, than moved on to the sort aisle, i went from 8.50$ to 11.00/hr in that time span. and it really is bad at first, but it wasnt as bad as people make it to be. But you do work hard, but after 30 days, you have an option to put a letter of intent in, to be a trainer, or supervisor. and most people dont take advantage of this. But if you need a job its alright. Just make sure you do Unload, DO NOT! DO NOT! DO NOT! DO LOAD!!! do your 30 days, and than put your letter of intent in and try to be a trainer, than you will get payed a salary , and not ever have to touch a box again..:) Id also advise you to take advantage of the money for college, and the health care plan. And in the next few weeks they will start offering overtime because of the holidays. UPS has alot of oppurtunities, you just have to take advantage of them, because if you dont you will be in the truck for ever..lol

A bunch of pussies posting in this thread.

Its a job, you're there to do work, and they're paying you for it. I've worked ups and FedEx, both during the summer and I sucked it up. FedEx of course was better, but its a job. You're being payed to do what they tell you to do so suck it the fuck up and do it. If you don't want to, quit. Easy as that.

I did that shit for 2 days, quit on the 3rd. It was definitely not worth $8.50/hr.

I started at $10/hr at FedEx and Ups, then got pay raise at FedEx, ended up making $10.70/hr there.
