Well I just got it today, grip came on Monday. So I have nothing at home to make a better product shoot and the results show. However the 40D is still a 40D and so far I love it. Unfortunately no real pics to speak of as yet. They will be coming though!
Overall it just feels better, I like how it is heavier and beefier than the XTi. The shutter sounds more industrial. Looking forward to it. The XTi has been retired to the bag as a backup.
On to my crappy product photo shoot haha

Alright so I wandered around the house to see what I could find :)
Should have stepped down the lens pic just a bit :(

A very important item in my house. My grandmother who I was very close with, got me to love sports, Atlanta Braves fan of the year in 1996 and so much more passed away in 2004. These are the flowers from the funeral that I dried and have kept. They have now survived two moves :)

what kind of grip did you get, looking forward to buy one for my d50
aslo, since there is not a verticle shutter relase, are grips worth the money?

Both my Canon's have Canon grips. Which have the shutter release and additional controls. Extra battery life and just overall better feel.

yeah 40d has a way better shutter sound
so you forked over the extra 80 bucks or whatever for the collar on the 70-200?

since there is not a verticle shutter relase
wtf? what would the point be there exactly? and more importantly, who the fuck makes a grip without a shutter release?

It is an 'aftermarket' lens collar. When I use my monopod at Auto-X and track events it is a big help :)
Some aftermarket grip companies make grips that just have extra battery life. I think even the cheapest have a shutter release though. Some don't have the full controls at your finger tips.
Definitely excited to have it ;)

maybe, but not mkII.
yeah and back to the grip questions.....
i have a shitty xti, and i have a grip -- would be lost without it --....but event he shitty manufacturers have vertical controls.

Yah I will go mkii.
I know selling them won't buy one in full. Some extra cash will have to happen as well :)

how do you like the 70-200 f/4 L? I am buying one soon for autocross coverage. Does it get the job done? How about at Road Atlanta, possibly with a X1.4 extender?

I have shot Road Atlanta with just the 70-200 on a Crop Camera and it worked great. Getting a 1.4x TC this holiday season though. Will add a little bit on the long end.
Since it sounds like you are outside during the day it works great! Love it to death!

Thanks man, I am sooo excited. Well I know you'll love the 40D to death, it's a wonderful camera for sure. Night and day using a X0D camera over a Rebel series in terms of feel and button layout. When you get used to the rear control dial, you'll wonder how you lived without it.
