Never shot a handgun, only rifles. I want to go to a shooting range before I buy a handgun for recreational use.

What are the shooting range options around the Gwinnett area?

What are the typical costs (estimates are fine) if they supply gun and ammo?

Post Up

Thanks!

From my experiences, handguns are usually $5 to rent, and you have to buy ammo from them to use in it (so estimate about $15). Here's a link to shooting ranges across GA:http://www.huntingnavigator.com/huntingdir/georgiashooting.html

Check out Bulls Eye. Its in downtown Lawrenceville. You can rent anything from a 9mm hand gun to a fully auto tommy gun. I think its $10 to rent a hand gun but you have to use their ammo. What I would do though is buy a box of 100 rounds from walmart, then go rent their gun and get 1 box of ammo from them. Their prices are higher than walmart.

Never been to any of the ones in your area, so I don't have much input there.

I only go to American classic marksman. Its on peachtree industrial blvd in Norcross. I got a bunch of free passes from buying my guns there so thats why its the only place i go to. I also went to bullseye, both good ranges. Bullseye charges hourly and Acm charges a flat fee of 16 a person as long as you want to stay there. IMO if youre going with some friends i think bullseye is cheaper since you just pay hourly for a lane but at ACM they charge per person so it can get expensive if you come with friends.

Thanks for the responses. I may go with a friend or two. I figure $50 should get me by for a first time.

Any particular models that you guys like, or that I should use for the pure "badass" factor?

as far as hand guns go, you might want to try your typical Glock 22 (.40 cal) to see how you like it. I am more of a 1911 kind of guy myself. That would be my #1 recomendation.

If your going just to shoot and practice I would recommend just shooting a 9mm since the bullets would be a ton cheaper. If you want to shoot for the badass factor I would recommend a 10mm.
