xbox360 is better as a game console, people like u just say that ps3 is better cus it has useless blue ray, internet etc....more useless stuff.

When i bought xbox 360, i bought a gaming console for gaming, i wasnt looking for a movie player or a internet provider.

I would say 360, except it seems like every one of them I have had has a habit of freezing in games. Particularly sports games. I've went through 3 and they always do... Oh well, I'll see how PS3 is soon lol

this is the thing that you and Got Milk?Miss. This has been discussed so many times and I feel like I'm beating a dead horse but, we will go through it again. This year marks the peak of development on the 360. Games will not get any better visually on 360 after this year. The limits have been reached. Hardware for hardware the PS3 is in fact > Than the 360.

Problem is that just about every game has been developed for 360 and then made to work on the PS3. Developers have not figured out the absolute limits of the software for the PS3.

Another thing that got way over hyped. Microsoft's venture with Netflix. They had over 100k DVD's to chose from and they picked the worst 12K. While PS3 offers only ~1K movies online, they are miles better than what Netflix offers online.

I own both so I am trying to be objective here. I play my XBOX more because the online community is miles better than PSN. Not to mention it is easier to travel with and I bounce around the state a lot. My biggest gripe about the PS3 is that the cover is so easily scratched it's not funny.

They say ps3 = The FUTURE,
Blue ray isn't useless; it's the latest technology. What's better?
Ps3 is more professional over VS xbox360(white, green and looks like one of those vtech educational gaming consoles i bought for my nephew awhile back).
Sony>Microsoft ALL DAY EVERYDAY,

You said you bought the xbox360 because it's a gaming console? Well, for alittle more then what you paid, you could've had a bad ass movie player AND a internet provider AND a bad ass gaming console that has way more potential in memory storage(blue ray) and Top HIT GAMES that will soon come out.
Also, you can upgrade ps3 harddrives to any suitable laptop Harddrive you can find for it.

I've got both the xbox360 & the ps3 in my home; so far the ps3 ownss,
the ps3 might be pricey but you do get what you pay for. Blue ray is in it too and the price for a ps3 is $399 nowadays. A blue ray dvd player at a Walmart store is more than half the price of a ps3. You can get the cheapest blue ray dvd player for about $130 but it ain't no Sony though.

By the time our kidds grow up, the psX will be out and they'll be running around with high tech goggles, holograms, etc.

PS3 because of all the things i can do on it.. play games, watch blu ray movies... (we all saw how far hd dvd got.HA!) also browse the internet without leaving the chair and going to my computer or laptop. Also Playstation home is fun and a good way to meet new people. (I have the Beta) It is expensive but if your trying to buy on a budget just get the 40 gb. you can always upgrade hd later.

dude its a gaming console if i wanted to surf the web i would buy a computer if i wanted to watch movies i'd buy a nice home theatre... its a GAMING CONSOLE.

as far as gaming 360 by far - game selection is better, shit tons of downloadable content, and microsoft owns online gaming which is what hardcore gamers are about.

ps. you can put just about any size harddrive in a 360 i think they installed all the way up to 2TB b/c that was the reading limit ;)

i have both. i like both just the same.

i use the ps3 more cause online gaming is free. while it is better that it is free, it gives hackers a better chance, since if they get banned, they can just make a new account, but on the other hand, i didnt wanna pay for xbox live, so my xbox is for local playing only.

as far as gaming options, the xbox right now has more games, better games, but like redgt said, it's reached its limit while the ps3 has not.

This what I think.
Ps3 is a soild investment because of blu ray. I use my ps3 all the time for movies and games. has an ok selection of games and free online.

Xbox 360 is really only worth it if you hack it to play backups. Most of the online feature of the xbox 360 is on ps3. Plus if you want Blu-ray then your going to have to buy a blu ray player. But it does have a better selection of games.

not surprised it is far easy to work w/ Microsoft on programming games, companies like Valve are 360/PC developers only. ;)

i do find it funny people who think 360 it at its potential for hardware considering the wii is sitting on last gen hardware . its also funny we've been hearing about PS3 game library being expanded since launch; maybe by the time next gen consoles come out they will produce some exclusive games. don't get me wrong i want a ps3 but for blu ray only... sony lost its strong hold on the gaming market.

O rly? And you've played gt5:rolleyes:

It really comes down to personal opinion. If I were you I would look at the games that are out, and coming out for both systems. Both sytems look great, so I don't think you have to worry about that. If you want to spend the extra money and get a ps3 you also get a blu-ray player and you can surf the web. However, some people already have laptops/BR players/etc..

Yes i have. GT5P is nothing to get your panties wet over.

Maybe when the real GT5 comes out it will be worth something. Oh and i've been playing GT since GT for PS1. GT4 also was another that wasn't that special.

Yes i have. GT5P is nothing to get your panties wet over.Agreed. That game is eye candy and nothing more. Boring and soulless. Forza 2 is by far the better racer. Hell, go play Midnight Club LA.

I say PS3 for the Blu-Ray, the backwards compatibility (old version), and the DVD upscaler. Yes, even regular DVD's look better on the PS3. Don't believe me? Watch The Last Samurai on a DVD player then watch it on PS3. HUGE difference in quality.

Also, the PS3's potential is really beginning to shine. I had a chance to play Gears of War 2 and Resistance 2 over the weekend. While Gears of War 2 is a fun game, Resistance 2 is BY FAR the much better looking game. The XBox fanboys are about to lose their game quality debate, and fast.

I think you forget we are working on 1 older technology - i'm sure if PS3 was pushed up 1 year in advance you would see many differences including the borrow axis controller technology, larger hard drives, blu ray, etc.

we are also talking about the biggest gaming venture in probably game history... how many people can come out of no where and take on a giant like Sony who has been in the game since the late 80's?

the most expensive ELITE 360 goes new for 260$ online and PS3 is now 399$... sorry but i want to play games specifically shooters 360 is the way to go.

i love features ... this is much like debateing cars... yes i love my heated seats and cup holders in my GTI but if you think i bought it for place for my coffee you are sadly mistaken the car was bought to be BOOSTED to hell and driven. much like my 360 purchased for gaming that's that it is mainly used for. i have a great home theatre already, 2 laptops, and a media server. i've played every console many times...

most innovative + worst gaming = wii

best looking = ps3

best gaming + best price = 360

library, funcionality, online gaming = far superior then how a game looks. if i wanted to play pretty games i would buy RPG :lmfao:

I will say the 360 so far has the upper hand in terms of gaming titles, along with their Xbox LIVE! - I mean c'mon, one look at Castle Crashers is all you need there :D

PS3 is coming along though with Home, and the PSN is getting more and more popular. Little Big Planet hopefully should boost things a lot more for them :D

Wii - to be quite honest, very little games I've played using the damn Wiimote/Nunchuck. Innovative? Yes, but man, doing an FPS like that fucking sucks. Gamecube controllers ftw! Nice downloadable content there too.

To get back to the original poster: What do you want your console to do? What kind of games do you like?

All this will help you narrow it down.

You are trying to decide between the top two consoles on the market. One is excellent for games, and one gives you good games plus blu-ray.

If you are looking for a console that will let you play (most) of the popular games, some exclusives, with good graphics then you shoud get the Xbox.

If you are looking for a console that will let you play (most) of the popular games, some exclusives, with good graphics, plus also want to use your console as a top notch Blu-ray player, then get the PS3.

hehe, ps3 FTMFW!!! Buying a xbox360/ps3 IS like buying a computer! Both systems do what computers do but PC gaming pawns any gaming console regardless if you have a well equipped system that is. Also, I remember reading reviews of IGN.COM saying the ps3 - the future. Of course I know it's a gaming console but if you already have a home speaker system and a nice tv plus the ps3 blue ray; life can't get any better. If you have both gaming consoles, you've got it made man. My ps3 is hooked up to a speaker system that was used by my ps2 and it sounds bad ass. All I need now is a HDTV but it's still super clear regardless. Anyways, the point is I'm with Sony all the way. Psone,Ps2,Ps3 Pawns and still does.

P.S Harddrives can be upgraded to however much you wanna spend up to. I think 80gb is good enough for now.

For me personally, I would have no reason to buy a 360. I want to play SOCOM, GTA4, GT5, MGS4, and Madden games. Halo is gay, and no 360 exclusives are that appealing to me. The 360 vs. ps3 argument is gay as fawk. They are both great systems. The ps3, however, does have more potential. It hasn't even been tapped into yet. The 360 has more games, but I don't care. The ps3 has all I will ever want, so that is what I will be buying when the next paycheck rolls in. It's all personal preference.

PS3 because of Gran Turismo 5

SpecV_Scott
12-03-2008, 10:28 AM
If all the other things were equal (and they definitely aren't), the PS3 would be better simply because online gameplay is free. But when you factor in better graphics, blu-ray, and internet browsing, there really is no comparison.

As far as exclusive games...I've played Gears and Halo...neither one was anything special. I think CoD4/5 are WAY better. I've never been a fan of Forza, either, it's just never really stacked up to the GT series.

So I guess my point is that if you choose to ignore the technical differences, it's really subjective.

ok I would say if you want a BluRay Player and a gaming console all in one then go w/ the PS3 it is definitely worth it. Don't get me wrong the 360 is a good platform, but the only siding factor w/ it is the game selection which is pretty much available for PS3 now anyway.

PS3 is better:you ask why? I think play station is better as a system. It has blue ray, web, etc..I don't own a ps3, but when i play at my friends house, there is too much loading, and alot of times it would say "reading hdd" or something like that. So IMO ps3 is better as a system because it has way more stuff and way more money was invested in it. Also, me and few of my friends were playing a tournament in fifa 09, and being offline, the game was lagging. ps3 as a gaming console FTL PS3 as a system for anything other than gaming, FTW.

360 is better: you ask why, yes it doesn't have blue ray, it doesn't have web, but who the fuck needs that on a gaming system. Personally, i think 360 is better as a gaming console, it has less loading, no freeze ups no etc....

i know someone posted the IGN review from the PS3 section but this is watch really counts:

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/microsoft-the-wii-third-party-game-story-is-not-a-pretty-one

check out who has the biggest game sales - 360 is like 2x both consoles... if you are out selling other consoles this is what 3rd party software developers are going to look at; especially for sales in the US.

Total third party sales for the Xbox 360 since launch is currently 67,929,999 units, followed by the Wii at 33,394,311 units and the PlayStation 3 at 19,976,325 units.
Third party sales for the Xbox 360 since the launch of the Wii and PS3 is 54,065,728 units, still almost double the Wii's 33,394,311 units.
If you take the total number of units sold and divide that by the number of titles released since November 2006, the Xbox 360 and the PS3 are selling more units per title on average than the Wii. This puts the Xbox 360 at 217,252 units per title, the PS3 at 156,065 units and the Wii at 132,517 units.

Soooo just curious? have you guys some how magically time traveled to Christmas 09 and played GT5 and that is what your basing this comment on? Or are you simply judging GT5:Prologue and calling that an accurate representation of GT5? Granted it's called out that it is expanding on the GT5:P game but that was simply a tease of what is to come.

Gran Turismo 5 (also known as GT5) is the fifth edition of the Gran Turismo series. Expanding on the Prologue (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gran_Turismo_5_Prologue) version, it will be the first of the main numbered series to be released for the PlayStation 3 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_3). Gran Turismo 5's release date has been confirmed to be Christmas 2009 by SCEE Vice President James Armstrong in an interview with Spanish website El Financiero. He is quoted as saying

"For next year, for southern Europe we are developing a new game thriller, in which the player may be designing their own history, and the new version of Gran Turismo, which will at Christmas."

[7] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gran_Turismo_%28series%29#cite_note-6)

It has been confirmed that the Top Gear (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_Gear_%28current_format%29) test track will be featured in the game. It will also include damage, day and night cycles, and changing weather conditions. Aswell as an open airfield to test out your car and do your own road tests.

I don't buy blu-rays and I rarely watch blu-rays so that's PS3 for blu-ray only point is moot. I bought my PS3 for gaming. I love everything else on it, but I bought it for gaming. XBOX has some nice exclusive titles but none that I like. Forza's okay but it's not GT. PGR is okay but it's not GT. So, I'm gonna do a list of why I bought PS3.
1) GT5P
2) Wangan Midnight (it's in Japanese, but still hella fun and not available on xbox)
3) Initial D Extreme Stage (another Japanese title...read a port of IDS4 Arcade).
4) GT5

GT5P>Forza 1-whatever. I don't base my games on how well the car crashes because in race sims (similar to real racing), I try not to crash my car. Thusly, I don't need a damage engine for the game to be effective. I like appearance and functionality. GT has both over Forza.

4) GT5

I suggest checking out GRiD for PS3 :goodjob:

Got the demo. Lotta fun. But I don't want two games where I can't customize anything. (well, actually, GT5P DOES have a lot of tuneability once you beat A Class, but much less that what I like).

i have both consoles and i still prefer my ps3 as a BETTER system. now as far as GAMES the 360 had more/better. its all on persona opinion. i own both system and needless to say the 360 just acts cheap for 399 (when it first came out) it had so many problems now i can honestly say it hasn't got the red ring of death and mine is a 1st gen 360 but i have to sadly admit it will soon, the only problems i am having with it other then occasional freezing is the disk tray wont open if a disk is NOT in there. Otherwise i have to tap or kinda hit the chrome part repeatedly to open. OH and the power brick failed and i had to buy a new one. Which was an extra 89$ to that 399 or 499 i forgot the pricing.

As for my ps3 i can say i NEVER had one problem with it.
Other then it was 600$ (when new). Also i got a 60 GB hard drive over a shitty 20, but w/software= 13-14 GB, and i have to pay a 100+ for a 120GB Hard drive. What makes it worst is that the PS3 allows you to buy OTHER products that are FULLY compatible with there product unlike Microsoft "If its not ours it will valid your warranty BS". Hell i can up grade my PS3 WITH ANY SATA 2.5'' Hard drive, IMO that pretty bitching and best part is 500g HD cost a little over 60$.

I didn't read all post, but someone was said the internet, etc was useless and the bought a GAMING console... humm correct me if im wrong but a gaming console is a computer they have ram, video cards, mother boards, etc so to say the internet was useless (even though that was your own opinion) was a failed attempted at shooting the PS3 down. Would you rather have a 600$ system not have all the extra things like web surfing, blue ray, etc. If so then that's prolly why you bought a 360.

(Excuse any typos or Fill in the blanks type sentence)

/rant

EDIT: I prefer the PS3 but its all under personal preferences. Be sides there are too many Fan Bitches meaning that in a respectable way. (please don't take any thing to heart) Now if you want a system that is more noob.. err user friendly the 360 will get the job done on all accounts. Its fun and has great games.(Basically: I prefer the Ps3 but recommend the 360 (just pay for that extra insurances, and you will need a decent TV to see certain small text game EX: Dead rising, The 360 dosnt have aspect ratios the PS3 offers. lol

BTW Proof of the systems, and yes even though i prefer my PS3 i play the 360 more.

and i have my AV audio cords going the JVC system..... My 360 gets the 20'' HD monitor and the PS3 gets the 20 inch gay Magnavox stander def. but at least i can see everything.

360 is better: you ask why, yes it doesn't have blue ray, it doesn't have web, but who the fuck needs that on a gaming system. Personally, i think 360 is better as a gaming console, it has less loading, no freeze ups no etc.... Uh... PC gamers? :D

I'm just gonna throw this out there. PS3 PWNZ 360 cuz you can get on the internet and watch AND download (should it behoothe you to do so) porn...FOR FREE. While I haven't downloaded any, I've watched a GANG of FREE porn on my PS3. The first time was just by happensake. Every other time was usually showing someone...hey, look what I can do on my PS3. That and I have a 65" 1080i DLP tv. Score and Vivid's HD stuff looks really good on that...except the money shot. Nastier than it should be.

Check out this link, it is a side by side comparison of hardware, this should tell you something about the capabilities of both systems, and where each of them are headed. Frankly, I doubt the 360 is going to get any better looking from here on out.

Here is a link to wikipedia giving the different 360's you can buy.

Now one for PS3
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_3#Retail_configurations

(on a side note, I have the 60Gig PS3 with the Emotion Engine for backwards compatibility)

I have both, and honestly, the only reason that I bought the 360 was so I could play Halo and Forza 2. I have 2 other games for the 360 - Assassin's Creed, and Splinter Cell Double Agent. I over twice the amount of games for my PS3, and they look better. My 360 is currently sitting at my parents house, so when my son gets home from school, he has something to play.

I remember reading an article back in 2006/07 that compared what you got with the base model PS3, as opposed to the top model 360 (of the time) based on price; The PS3 still won. If I could find the article, I'd link it here.

It's going to come down to personal opinion, but honestly the PS3 does have more (and more potential) than the 360.
