I've been in the hospital with a freak blood clot and now im behind and got stuff due so i'm calling out for some help. I will reward whom ever helps with rep(since im broke as hell its all i can)

1. Solve the equation 8^x+2=(1/2)^x-11

2.Simplify each of the following. Assume that all variables represent positive real numbers.
A. 8x^-2(y^3 z^-3)^-3 B. (4d^1/2 + 1)(3d^1/2 - 2)
(2x)^-4 y
c. 15x^-2(y^-1 z^2)^-3
(5x)^-1 y^2

Sorry about useing the ^... just think Ti-83 lol thanks for any help.

1. Blueberry muffins

2.a. abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz

2.b. To be or not to be? That is the real question.

2.c. The Gettysburg Address as told by an Abe Lincoln impersonator on a stage in southern Iowa during a Civil War re-enactment camp at a Boys' Camp for juvenile delinquents.

Later, QD.

I can do it, but I don't feel like putting forth the time I guess. Then again, I took Calc 1, 2, 3, 4, theory, and linear algebra in college as well; shit that I will never use in real life. Ahahahah

It's not that hard, but most IA'ers are not as smart as they want to believe.

Like I said, I could do it (it would be A LOT easier if I could see the exact way that the equation was drawn out - without the ^ and such), but it just takes time to sit and move things from the right and left side of the equation in order to solve for x.

I'm going to have to write this out, but I'll try it. Get back to you in a bit.

you need to get your parenthesis straight before even attempting to ask for help online with your homework.

is that 8^(x+2) or (8^x)+2?

wait, whats the ^?

AB3dj

the "^" is called a caret used to represent an exponent lol... wow.

squared, cubed, which exponent, i figured it was for a exponent just makin sure if it was 2 or 3 or 20 lol. im not as retarded as i am lol

AB3dj

my guess is it's either to the x or to the x+2

is that 8^(x+2) or (8^x)+2?

As it is written on the sheet i have there aren't any parentheses but i guess it would be 8^(x+2)

Thats kinda the point i think.:goodjob:

First problem:

8^(x+2)=(1/2)^(x-11)

log(8^(x+2)) = log((1/2)^(x-11))
(x+2)log(8) = (x-11)log(1/2)
(x+2)(.903) = (x-11)(-.301)
.903x + 1.806 = -.301x + 3.311
1.204x = 1.505

x = 1.25 or 5/4

I don't have the time or desire to do the others, but if you can follow what I did, you should be able to get them. Basically you just need to know that

log(a^b) = (b)log(a)
