amp trouble. HELP

somethings not right. cant find my manual either. my sub wont hit, but the amp is to blame im sure b/c it says g-power
r- protect and the light is red. so its in protect mode. what could cause this? ive checked all the connections but its still there. all the wires to the sub and in the box are fine. the remote wire is fine, the two frm the back of the radio (white and red) dunno what theyre called, are fine... any thoughts? it started when my battery died if that helps... new battery now tho.

replace your fuse from the battery, it can be damaged and not look like it.

If you have a multimeter, check the impedence for the subs at the amp and make sure its not a sub problem. Also check the input voltage to make sure you have 12+ volts going to the amp.

Also, you can check the manufacturers website and probably find the manual to see the meaning of the protect lights.

i dont have a fuse comin from the battery, the one that was there was blown adn i didnt wanna wait so i put a wire nut there. i dont have a multimeter either. this is gay

If all you wire connections are "fine" as you state, I would look at the subs.
Typically, if your wiring is "fine", then there is a good chance you might have blown one of your subs.

sounds to me like the amps trying to put out to much if you unhook the power to the amp will it reset an start back working

i unhooked it last night to check the power cord. it shouldnt be blown lol, i barely even have it on. i just like a lil extra thump. hmmm.... i would say it was the sub, but when the radio first comes on you hear a "thud" and then nothing. so the sub is gettin something imo... i think i might run all the wires again b/c the guy who ran these made them look like crap anyway

if your amp has protection first see whats causing it. Disconnect all your speaker wires from the amp, then see if your red protection lights go off. If it doesn't check your grounds. If you need an amp for a sub(s) I have an MTX 421D for sale $150. Let us know what happens. You do need to run a fuse right after the battery on your power cable. You are kinda asking for trouble.

as redgst said, put a dman fuse in there before you burn the car to nothing. Second, a multimeter is pretty cheap for the little that you need to do. You could probably buy a cheap one, use it for this, then take it back and get your money back.

im goin to get a fuse tomorrow lol. dont worry. but i did think about (b4 i read all these) that usually it is a ground fault causing protection lights. i checked the ground wire and the remote wire and they looked fine but still. ill just unhook everything tomorrow and check it again.

dont think ill need the mtx amp tho lol. all this is is a xxx amp off ebay pushing a pioneer 10 from walmart... that could be the WHOLE problem lol. one of em crapped out. if thats the case then screw em both. ive got a kenwood amp thats older than me that hasnt crapped yet if its the xxx amp. if its the sub... screw it all together. thanx for all the help tho. ill let you guys know what happens tomorrow. wish me luck

jimmy ftw.. but to mean you probably have your subs loaded to low.. example...

2ohm stable amp.. subs loaded at 1ohm = causing amp to go into protect mode... i've seen this alot.. checc your wiring for the subs or just disconnect the subs all together and see if the amp comes out of protect

well fellas, it was the amp. idk what it was doin, i unplugged it, had a random thought, put my kenwood (thats older than i am) on it and she started hitting like b4. so screw xxx amps. screw ebay for important stuff. amps off ebay... NO lol. oh well. kenwood 100, ebay 0 again. will i ever learn? thanx again everyone for your help. gotta find a inline fuse tho...
