so in this post i am going to roll out the photos!
sometime last year(07), maybe august-ish?, i acquired an 86 sport with a blown motor that one of my best friends (chris) didnt
have time to fix because of career training. It had been painted twice
already, once the factory royal maroon, then a color I liked to call "grimace purple metallic",
both i suspect were maaco jobs, because the prep work was SO BAD...
anyway, I loaded it up, dragged it out to my dad's body shop, and
this is what ensued...
This is the day i picked it up, it HAD a kaminari kit on it when he bought it,
but it didn't fit very well, plus he wanted to keep it.

after i started tearing it down.

Put a bit of tractor paint on the frame rail after i removed some surface rust.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g268/rabius/rx7build/hmmmm024.jpg
Gutted the inside for wiring purposes, and i had originally planned to paint the
interior metal as well.

removed the bumpers, fenders, doors and taillights, etc. for prep work

a touch of penn state for ya.. i try to avoid cars that have been up north
in their life time... i can't seem to locate the picture of the repair, it was
cleaned up to remove all the rust, then the hole was covered with fiberglass,
then finished with a light coat of filler.

the various repairs around the car.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g268/rabius/rx7build/car043.jpg
the car had a sport spoiler on it that was removed, and the really didn't
smooth the panel out when they were done, so it was recovered and re-smoothed.

can you guess what im doing? this is a picture of the VERY rare optional,

I repainted and touched up a lot of things on the car before i put them back in the
engine bay.

I get it all reassembled and swapped my motor and transmission, suspension and wheels on it, loving it, having tons of fun.
all the parts came from this car. she took me and chris all the way through
technical school, and many good times, and a few bad times (read: tickets)
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g268/rabius/rx7build/car032.jpg
Somewhere amongst the madness, i resorted all the wires and did what i had to and got them out of the engine bay.

Ill have to snap a few pics soon to show the finished engine bay as it is now. It's about to be redone, i have waiting: more wire tuck, Microtech LT8, koyo polished radiator and a VDI upper intake.
this is when we took our family camping trip to the smokies (every summer..) my girlfriend and I took my 7.

Real TII(at least the engine) or just the hood? Either way, good job with it. If it's a TII then I am VERY impressed you found one without a sunroof. I mean, both of the windows in my TII went out so I loved my sunroof to death but if my windows had worked.... that solid roof makes the car sooooooo much lighter. Nice car.

the car is a sport with a turbo hood. i dont really care for all the stuff that came with the turbo, except the seats. i already have the HD (turbo) brakes because it is a sport.

mods are:
S5 bumpers and moldings
rs*r down springs w/AGXs
racing beat road race header with custom, long runner to collected 2.5" single exhaust
pineapple racing aux port sleeve inserts
S-AFCII (black :))
S5 short shifter w/shortened S5 shift knob (heavier than S4)
centerforce dual friction clutch
'excel' wheels 17x7 +35
N/A LSD swap

in the works (just have to install everything):
trimming the rear springs 1"
VDI upper intake
rebuilding the exhaust to tune 4th exhaust pulse (roughly 88-90" runners to collector)
Microtech LT8 EMS
koyo polished aluminum radiator
Enkei RP 01s 17x8 +38
custom intake tube.

my dad right now is a little reluctant to do an overall paint job again, but he might be into it, id have to ask him.
