okay so last week i purchased a 1990 ef dx hatch for 500. full interior 180000 miles clean ass body, and it even had the origial owners manual. tuesday day i slamed it on apc coil overs lol. only to find out the struts are blown. lol.

i want to do a swap but have not decided yet and here are my options

h22

b20 or b20 vtec

ls vtec or just ls

built d series turbo

maybe b16

which of these would be the best to do and what parts would i need?

a b16 would be the easiest swap...or the d-series turbo

All of those options are nice but to be different I would try the H22 swap (which is not easy but no one around here has a H22/CRX either) or a D-Series turbo.

The determining factor is price.

Whats your budget?

If you got a no limit budget then I would say H duece duece.LOL But if you dont have so much money just get a Gzr or b16 and call it a day.

x2

But if you want something easy and quick, b16 would be your best bet. You're car won't be "fast", but it will be fun. :D

what all would be needed to do the b series swap and the h22 swap? my budget would be like 1800 but not all at once

you could have been fast already if you would have just bought my bike instead. gl with the car.

build turbo d16.

1800 is not gonna get you a b series swap.

maybe a turbo kit.

Unless you find a hella deal on craigslist for all you need for the swap.

might be able to get a zc swap for that.

h22a FTW! not many people have it. but thats if you got money. its not to much though, if you can find the right deals you can get all relativly cheap, but i would go for the k swap!! cause i have an h22 in my EF, its amazing but it took a lot of fabrication, but its well worth it!!!! any questions let me know!

For that amount of money I saw this

B20z block
GSR head
B16 tranny

That's going to be my next motor if not a K :ninja:

Just put your cobalt motor in it ... you don't see anyone with that :D

i was thinking of the cobalt swap lol. i was thinking maybe of a lightly built d15b and turbo it to make around 260

green91
11-29-2008, 04:29 PM
to make 260 you will def need a built block. keep in mind though 260whp d with si trans & lsd with good driving could easily net mid-low 12s in this chassis!

Your budget is kinda low. A turbo kit (besides an ebay one) or a decent swap will kill that budget

I doubt you'll get 260hp on a stock block. Stock LS blocks rarely see that safely.

If I were you, I would build a little cheap vitara/tuner toy block and keep it on a stand until you save enough money for a decent turbo setup. Then you should see gains over 300hp ;)
