I've driven a couple, they are cool. Wouldn't be my first pick for a high end car though.

Gran Turismo S> V8 Vantage
Actually this is funny. My moms partner in her firm had the V8 vantage (which I drove alone a few times) and now has a Gran Turismo S (which I got to drive also). Both were automatic.
Don't get me wrong, he sold the Aston because he had constant CEL lights (he's a perfectionist), but I would never be caught dead in the Maserati over the Aston. True, they are both beauties but an Aston has a presence that's almost untouchable. It's like the definition of class and sport. The benchmark for classyness. The Maserati just feels plasticy, posery and cheaper, but I do love it.

I would agree on the 70's-early 00's Maseratis but the brand is changing for the better since parent company Ferrari has become so profitable. I hope they get back to the point where Ferrari and Maserati were great rivals. This is in the sense that both make great Italian cars.
With that said, i too would take the Aston. The fact that Aston hasn't forgotten about a proper manual transmissions in their cars is so important. There are very few GT cars i feel can stand up to a DBS.

This is very true. Although I can't really explain it. It's like comparing a TL to a 335. You get in the 335 and it feels like higher quality materials, richer colors and better build quality and design efforts. That's the difference between the Gran Turismo and the Vantage. When I sit in it I can just look around I know i'm in something really damn good, versus something special.
The DBS is probably one of my favorite cars of all time. Where else can you get all that class and all that performance. It's a benchmark if you ask me. It would be one of the first cars I'd buy if I won the lottery...
