Integra Help

So here's the deal. Gf's 94 integra has a problem.

Last night, drove it home just fine, this morning it wouldn't start up. I know for a fact we didn't leave anything on (IE misc lights, stereo, or headlights).

Got jumper cables, jumped it. Worked just fine, drove it to work, lunch time comes, it wouldn't start again. So I jumped it again, after lunch same problem.

So my conclusion was, it must be the alternator. After work, I went to Autozone and tested the battery, alternator and starter. Everything came out 100%, according to their test.

Checked everything, checked the alternator and there was some grease underneath it, which i am guessing is from the cv axle because the boot is ripped. I already knew that was a problem, but that wouldn't cause any problems starting the car right?

It couldn't be any electrical wires loose, because I haven't done anything electrical on this car.

Also, a little bit more info, after I jump start it, and turn it off and try to crank it back up, it tries to start but does not, then after that the battery is basically dead. It seems like that last try just drained the rest of it.

The battery is brand new, i just replaced it about 1.5 month ago.

I think this is all the info I can give.

yeah i thought that it could be the grounding issue too... but like i said i havent touched anything electrical lately, so i cant see how it would just randomnly be something like that.

either way saturday im retesting and gonna try to figure it out. i am just trying to get some pointers right now

Check your alternator wire

jump car and allow batt to fully charge. shut off car and disconnect batt and let sit overnight (it's possible the batt is taking a dump on you and the cold has just pushed it over the edge). take batt in for test to see if it's dying on it's own-volt and load test(bad cell, etc). if everything checks out then you have an issue w/ the car/wiring/grounding. when it gets cold like this i have seen issues w/ rats getting up in/underneath the batt and dash and chewing on wires. is your car left outside or inside at night?

you can find out if your alternator is holding capacity as well.. jump start it however you started it up and disconnect the battery! it should stay on ONLY if the alternator is holding power, if it dies after you disconnect the battery then .. it's a badd alternator! and the alternator is draining your brand new battery to it's last breath 8D

not neccessarily. when u drive he car it charges the battery. by the time u go in and get one of those sorry bastards at autozone to test it, its prolly still charged so it shows good. that tester is dumb in some areas but smart in others.

i had a car charging at 15.5 volts and the tester said it was good. now the one camary i tested with it that was charging at 46 volts it realized that was too high. And yes, i did say 46 volts. i ducked next to the car telling them to turn it off bc i didnt know that was possible. lol!!!

Easy ass way to test your alternator. I did it and thought that my alternator was bad but it turned out it was just the alternator wire going to my fuse box got burned up.

that means ur alternator was working at that time. do u know what the CCA rating on the battery is versus what it put out? What kinda accessories are on the car. you may have not touched anything lately, but if u have some ghetto wiring somewhere u could have a wire that finally rubbed the insulation off and is grounding out. <-just throwing some things out there for u to check saturday. oh and a dead cell in a battery would read 10.6 when u turn the car off. it wont be able to hold 12.5 volts any more. hmmm, what else.....you could let somebody who know wtf they are doing fix it for yuh. LMAO!!!!!!

Btw I had an integra that would charge battery sometimes and then not other times, and the batt light would come on when the lights came on but if you turned the high beams on it would go away lol... ended up being in the back of the fuse box under dash, loose wire...

volt meter guys, cant guess at parts, if its not charging an your battery,alternator is good, could be electrical also could be a Bad ECU, it sends a signal to an from the alternator to tell it when to charge, if its not getting that signal the computer will not tell it to charge, there for No charging...

No where near a common issue unless some dumbie has messed with the wiring before, factory wires just dont come loose like that on a daily basis, but glad you found that problem, just verrrry rare thats the case

make sure the wires to the battery are clean and tight. they may have loosened up... check it out and post if that works
