can anyone tell me what all can be removed from the firewall of a crx when you have a b-series...i want to get rid of some of the vaccum lines...i took everything off except the map sensor, it still idles good and everything but if i take it up the rpm's slowly it starts to sputter/hesitate after 4k...and when im crusing on the highway it sputters too and all i do is let off the gas for maybe 2 seconds get on it again and its good for like another 2 minutes

if you had a problem like this or know how to route all the vaccum lines then tell me, and pics would be great

thanks.

Why did/do you want to remove vacuum lines? I can post a pic of my bay for ya.

Jfrolang may have better pics of his bay than mines

reason i removed it, was cause i wanted to get rid of the pcv valve and all that bullshit...the sputtering might be coming from my o2 sensors...could be wired backwards

edit: your intake manifold is completely different from mine.

I removed the carbon canister, and the 2 vacuum lines going to it, which is right next to your a/c lines coming out of the firewall

Also hid the vacuum line from the brake booster and pcv valve

I'm still tryin to figure out where I want to move my map sensor assembly. Haven't really had the time to mess with it lately.

Here's before and after pics

Yea my header wrap looks like doo doo, and that is why I took it off lol

You can eliminate pretty much everything on the firewall except for the MAP sensor.

yea i elimintated everythign and started to put some things back on cause i dindt like the way it was running...but its my o2 sensors...i guess the 2nd one is hooked up to the wrong ecu pin, it runs fine without the o2's...just feel like ive lost power, gonna rewire it tomorrow to see wat happens.

so my vaccum was right the whole time.

Don't you have an LS/VTEC? And you're running a stock OBD-0 ECU? Forget the O2 sensors, you need to get chipped and tuned, and personally I'd go OBD-1.

What is the Carbon Canister for????

The charcoal canister collects evaporated fuel from the fuel tank, and then periodically the purge control solenoid will open the valve on top of the canister, at which time the engine's vacuum pulls the gases out and burns them off.

yea dude, its the o2 sensors, and yes i am planning to convert to obd1 and get tuned...

Because it's ugly and doesn't effect your tailpipe emissions. I've just capped off the evaporation line from the tank, so everything stays in the tank.

unplugged both of the o2 sensors, i had the 2nd one wired wrong and now the car runs a whole lot better

runs rich once it gets in vtec tho...i need a tune :(

Who said anything about performance?

You can take everything off the firewall except for your map sensor, but you could snag an obd1 throttle body and use the map on it to clean up the firewall some more. They do read slightly different though, but not enough to make a difference.

I wouldn't recommend actually capping the evap line though, fuel emits vapors and changes greatly while being sloshed around and changing temperature.. if the line is capped it could actually pressurize or put the tank under a vacuum. I just installed a breather on mine.

Under normal conditions the tank develops a vacuum anyway, this is the sound of rushing air you hear when you open the gas cap.

Sure, when the evaporative emissions system is operational :)

yep i hear the sound when i open the gas cap...
