ADAM F
(Breakbeat Kaos Recordings, www.adamf.com, Kiss FM // UK)
Adam F. was born in Liverpool and raised in the center of the burgeoning local Merseyside music scene of the 70s. The British multi-hyphenate has built a stellar, transcontinental reputation as an award-winning, genre-crossing artist, music producer, film composer, international star dj, record label owner and industry spokesperson. A self-taught musician, Adam is an accomplished pianist and guitarist. His unstoppable music career began in the early 90s. He cites jazz-fusion and the 80s British electronica that was the foundation of MTV, as his main influences. MTV soon aired several of his music videos. Adam’s praised debut "Colours" featured the Top 20 singles “Circles” and “Music In My Mind” and earned him a British MOBO™ (Music of Black Origin) Award for Best Album (MOBO™ is England's equivalent to an American Grammy™). After an 18-month tour with a live band in support of his soon to be RIAA-certified Gold record, he was enlisted to demonstrate his turntable skills at major music festivals and top nightclubs around the globe. He is featured in the legendary documentary of the seminal DJ collective, the Metalheadz. Adam exploded into the mysterious stratosphere of high-paid, high-profile international superstar DJs, appearing on magazine covers television and radio shows worldwide, including his own Saturday night mix show on London's KISS 100FM. His versatility led to Adam working with artists from David Bowie to Missy Elliott and The Pet Shop to Destiny’s Child. His urban soundtrack "KAOS: The Anti-Acoustic Warfare” (EMI/UK) saw Adam producing hip hop stalwarts De La Soul, LL Cool J, Beenie Man, M.O.P., Redman, etc. for whom Adam composed and scored music for a 70 piece orchestra and 64 member choir to create the anthemic hit “Smash Sumthin'” (also featured in EA Games "Def Jam Vendetta"). The collaboration with LL resulted in the #1 Billboard-charted single “The G.O.A.T. (Greatest of All Time)”. The song served as the title single from LL's eponymous multi-platinum release which went on to ultimately become the rapper's first #1 album. It also appeared on Adam’s album. Tim Westwood astounded listeners by rewinding and replaying the song an unprecedented 5 times in his Radio One mix show. Filled with cinematic, testosterone driven beats and daring live instrumentation and despite its ill fated released date of 9/11, critics worldwide applauded "KAOS". In addition to a #1 Billboard Platinum Album, Adam’s achievements include 4 RIAA-certified Gold discs, 11 UK Top 40 Singles, #1 Drum & Bass single, NME Top 5 Producer and #1 UK Hip Hop Producer. Adam also composes music for film. His credits include “Ali G Indahouse” (FilmFour/ Studio Canal/ Working Title). He also created a full orchestral score for WWF/WCW Champion Wrestling. Adam owns his own music publishing company and is up for election to the Board of Directors of the PRS/MCPS Music Society in London. Adam co-founded and co-owns 2 successful companies; Breakbeat KAOS-an indie record label with each release landing on the UK's Top 20 and DogsonAcid.com, the Internet’s most trafficked electronic music website (as many as 40 million hits per month). Adam has finally fulfilled his longtime dream of forming a rock band; he is singer/songwriter/front man/producer of the UK rock band Malpractice (www.malpracticeuk.com). The band will tour this summer, playing at major music festivals in the UK. Several of the band’s songs will be featured in upcoming U.S. films and network television shows. Recently, Adam produced “Rush The Security”, the lead single from Redman's upcoming Def Jam release, licensed to Activision’s “True Crime: New York City” multi-platform video game. He has been in front of the camera on music networks and award shows across the globe and in several of his own music videos; now Adam is adding acting to his list of accomplishments as negotiations are under way for him to appear in the British indie crime-thriller “The Heavy”.

HIVE
(Violence Recordings, Salvation LP Tour // Los Angeles, CA)
Celebrated on both sides of the Atlantic, its in the unassuming personality of futurist B-boy Hive that drum and bass finds its mightiest bridge between the UK and the US. His tracks have become staples of virtually all of drum and bass legends, from Andy C to Goldie, and make regular appearances on Grooveriders Radio 1 program--on which Hives towering Neo spent weeks at number one on the Five Mighty Rollers. Hives label Violence has registered sales comparable to Ram, Renegade Hardware, and Valve. He released a tremendous remix of Goldies and Rob Playfords The Shadow for Moving Shadow. Metalheadz has invited him to record an e.p. for the label. Hes toured worldwide, completing a month of dates in New Zealand and Australia in the fall of 2002, preceded by a month in the UK and Europe, which included a guest appearance for the Valve Soundsystem. No American has gained such complete entree into the heart of drum and bass. Hive came of age as a drum and bass producer in the late 90s, but hes long been active in underground music, with roots that extend deep into underground hip hop, embodied in a string of iconoclastic releases and credits that include recording O.D.s Beneath the Surface album, followed soon thereafter by his own first album Working with Sound, released on his own Mandala imprint. The album was largely centered around jazz-inflected instrumental hip hop, but glimmers of drum and bass flickering across the surface anticipated his forthcoming artistic development. It was on the strength of this album that London/FFRR signed him to an album deal. In 1998 he released Devious Methods, a hallucinatory fusion of hip hop and drum and bass. Lauded by critics in Urb, Spin, Raygun, Vice, and DJ Times, the album yielded the single Ultrasonic Sound, which ultimately made its way on to the soundtrack CD for The Matrix, which notched up double platinum sales, surely as much exposure as any drum and bass artist could hope forand beyond. Yet beyond is where Hive has gone. Concurrent with his album was the establishment of Celestial Recordings. The label was dedicated to exposing underground hip hop and included luminaries Freestyle Fellowship, Awol One, O.D., Fat Jack, and The Shapeshifters alongside Hives own tracks. From Celestial sprung Vortex, a label dedicated purely to uncompromising drum and bass. Vortex included releases by Dillinja, Tech Itch, Pieter K, Juju, UFO!, Sage, and of course Hive, and established itself as one of the premier drum and bass labels in the US, improving not only on the sound of American releases, but on the overall package as well, with first rate design, promotion, and DJ support. His The Raw Uncut project was a rousing statement for the label, its triple-pack vinyl and eight track CD release gathering new fans both in the US and in the UK, represented most dramatically by Moving Shadows licensing of three tunes for Killa Bites 2. A club night to complement the expanding profile of the label was the next logical step, and Hive and label partner Daddy Kev opened the west coast franchise of New Yorks venerable Konkrete Jungle. Named best dance club in L.A. by Rolling Stone magazine, Konkrete Jungle positioned itself as Los Angeles premier drum and bass weekly until it closed its doors in 2001. That same year, Hive and Kev dissolved Vortex, and Hive introduced his most recent label, Violence, which has exploded onto the drum and bass scene with ferocious determination. Featuring releases by Klute, Teebee, John Tejada, Gridlok, Keaton, Echo, Juju, and himself, Hive has steered the label into the vanguard of drum and bass. Since the inception of the label, Hives musical output has grown ever more assertive and daring, personified most clearly by Neo, one of 2003s great anthems. Neo has reached into virtually every corner of drum and bass, from dedicated ravers to disaffected breaks aficionados, binding fans of different stripes together in common cause. Hive has also been spending more time in the studio with collaborators, including Keaton of The Usual Suspects. The two of them were responsible The Plague, another massive anthem of 2003, released on Hardware. 2004 will see the release of their even more broadly appealing follow-up Bring it On, for Violence. Tough, propulsive, forged out of both the traditional sampled aesthetic and leading sound designs of contemporary drum and bass, the sound of Hive today bears the imprint of an artist searching for new ways to reinterpret the music by his own lights. Neither a retrospective purist, nor a follower of fashion, Hives music, his DJing, and his label strike a steely, inspiring balance, hewing closely to a tight creative vision that has propelled him into the forefront of drum and bass wherever it thrives.

DB
(Breakbeat Science, Ror-Shak, www.djdb.com, www.myspace.com/djdbny // New York City, NY)
Arriving in New York from London in '89, it could be argued that no one has done more for Drum & Bass in America than DB. First with his hardcore Breakbeat club NASA, (featured in the Larry Clark film, Kids) then by launching Sm:)e communications and releasing the first Jungle singles & compilations in the U.S. DB was also the person responsible for signing DJ Dara, thus kick starting his artist career. He & Dara then opened Breakbeat Science, dedicated to Drum & Bass. It quickly became not only the most respected record store & label, but also the very epicenter of the jungle community in the U.S. He recently released an artist project with partner Stakka under the name Ror-Shak, focusing & pushing the limits on the more musical side of the genre, which as a dj, is what DB has become best loved for. "Secret Art Of Science 2" is DB's 13th mix cd in as many years. He also is a partner in both the cutting edge mens lifestyle shop BBlessing, & the multi media & record label Deaf Dumb & Blind Recordings.
When he has a second to spare he spends it with his wife & two small children, or tries to sleep.

PHANTOM 45
(Bass By The Pound, www.myspace.com/phantom45 // Chicago, IL)
Phantom 45, a Chicago native and drum n' bass icon has been and continues to be the gateway through which many enter the world of Drum and Bass. Phantom has seen the world change and plays the rhythm of this transformation every weekend with his brand of smokin' Jungle/Drum-n-Bass. Influenced by U.K. producers such as DJ Hype, Andy C. and the entire Moving Shadow label, Phantom 45 began to forge a new way of presenting this musical movement in the U.S. as far back as 1991. His understanding of Breakbeats, House Music and Rave Culture increased his demand as a touring DJ, landing him the Chicago Krush Rinse Tour with Danny the Wildchild and Dr. Groo in 2000 and The Fully Sorted Tour in 2002! As he sees it he's "just playing the tunes people need to hear" speaks volumes, for he spins what he feels - nothing more..nothing less. Now in 2008, you can see Phantom touring worldwide and re-emerging at the forefront yet again of DnB turntablism.

DJ CAPITAL J - The Natural Born Killer
(VIP Dubz Records, Caps Music Inc, www.djcapitalj.com, www.myspace.com/djcapitalj // Toronto, CA)
By the power of grey skull this dj is no joke! Conquering all sights and sounds of the disc-jockey world, Dj Capital J has been a triple threat since the age of 13 when he first showed the decks who’s boss. Trained strictly as a battle DJ, Caps dominated his home town of London Ontario's scratch & mix competitions, where he remained undefeated & king of the dance for all of his adolescent years, while his production skills, even at such a young age earned him opening slots for supreme legends of hip-hop including Ice-T & Evil E, RUN DMC, EPMD, Red Man and tons more before he even left high school. His wide appreciation for music kept him locked on every sound that appealed to him, from hip-hop to hip-house up to breakbeat hardcore down to the rave then off to the jungle, Caps was on top of it all, mixing and producing oldskool jams that shook down the walls of London till there was nothing left, then eventually packing up his arsenal of dubplates and gunning straight for Toronto. . With the launch of his new production on his own label ‘VIP DUBZ’ out now, keep an eye on this man, over the past year he’s been strengthening his production skills to match his amazing visual DJ sets, which keep him on top of the scene and always a crowd favorite.
