Broun cited a July speech by Obama that has circulated on the Internet in which the then-Democratic presidential candidate called for a civilian force to take some of the national security burden off the military.

“That’s exactly what Hitler did in Nazi Germany and it’s exactly what the Soviet Union did,” Broun said. “When he’s proposing to have a national security force that’s answering to him, that is as strong as the U.S. military, he’s showing me signs of being Marxist.”

Obama’s comments about a national security force came during a speech in Colorado in which he called for expanding the nation’s

comparing this to "nazi germany" or any form of government is ridiculous. obama wouldn't be "creating" any form of civilian military...it'd be expanding the civilian service programs that we already have OVER 600. http://www.cns.gov/

this is just another weak example of conservative groups to strike fear into the american people. it's funny...we have a number of discussions on here about whether bush was/is a good or bad president. conservatives defend bush by saying that we suffered 9/11, hurricane katrina, hurricane ike, war on terror, etc. americorps, and other civil service groups are STILL in lousiana trying to put the pieces together. aren't conservatives the ones who are "anti-government?" this is just stupid. maybe conservatives would be happy if the U.S. just turned into a nation of tribes, and no government.

Anyone ever hear of the Hitler-bomb theory. Basically when you start comparing the opposition to Hitler you've lost the argument and are pulling at straws. Hitler probably liked buttered toast and coffee for breakfast too, but my liking toast and/or coffee doesn't make me Nazi.

Furthermore, one cannot be both fascist and Marxist. The Nazi's and the Russians didn't get along that well, you know?
