Steering wheel shakes alot

Anyone know why my steering wheel shakes so much on my 91 crx dx even though im drving like 10-15mph.

Maybe its loose? Is it a aftermarket or OEM steering wheel?

bent wheel, tires out of balance, worn steering bushings,warped brake rotors, bad cv's, check to see if your lug nuts are tight...all possibilities..

That about sums it up. Most likely worn steering bushings! Because tires out of balance really don't shake until higher speeds most of the time, warped brake rotors only shake when your on the brakes, bad cv's wouldn't really make your sterring wheels shake, and a bent wheel could but it would have to be bent pretty bad.

well..iv seen rotors warped so bad tht the bump in it hits up against the pads even when not braking ,and makes wheel shake and tht makes the steering whl shake, and i meant bad cv as in it it might be bent..but tht out of ballance was pretty weak lol. i was just throwin him clues..

That about sums it up. Most likely worn steering bushings! Because tires out of balance really don't shake until higher speeds most of the time, warped brake rotors only shake when your on the brakes, bad cv's wouldn't really make your sterring wheels shake, and a bent wheel could but it would have to be bent pretty bad.

About the steering bushing can u go indep about that plz. pics will help alot

Re-install the castellated nuts to target torque, stopping as the hole in the tie-rod lines up with the nut. Always install a new cotter pin.

how much does it cost to get the rubber boot replace? and isnt this method same as getting outter tie rod replaced?

I just thought, it could also be Steering Linkage, worn steering box, or a damaged strut.

haha... I'm about 99% sure its a worn master cylinder! It being a 91 and I bet its probably the factory one from 91.

yea i did today and notice no leak on any of them... i guess the only soution is master cylinder. Anyone know how much to get one replaced?

Check your local Advance or Auto-Zone. Last time I checked they were in the $50-to-$60 range.

Most of my friends are pretty handy around cars already, just basically the crowd I hang out with. But the few that aren't, I don't charge them anything. But I plan to have a shop one day when funds permit me.

Just to throw it out there, bad cv axles will make the wheel shake even if the cv isn't bent.
