Credible sources are saying Honda will bring back their V4 engine to the street in 2010. Here is one of the sources.

Only problem is we have no word on whether it is a 2010 RC45 successor or a boring VFR800 replacement.

For many years, even the great CBR900 was second best to what was an ultra rare collection of road racing rockets like the RC30 and RC45. Many say that the RC45 is still the greatest bike ever made.

My vote goes to the RC30 in terms of street machines.

Watch this video to see why. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iO9YVYg4FyU)

Like most, i do hope Honda does resurrect its most successful racing power plant. Honda V4s in 2 stroke and 4 stroke form have brought them great success in GP racing, Superbikes, Endurance, and even the TT F1.

These are some great Honda V4s. Pics from Hellforleather.

LOL. Good luck with that. Honda is famous for never giving their race machines away.

In 2006, Nicky Hayden had it in his contract that he could keep his world championship winning machine.

But pretty much everybike listed above sits in the Honda collection hall at Motegi.

But if you are desperate....

Some do slip out of Honda's hands. Garry Mccoy's 1998 Shell Advanced NSR 500 machine can be had for $67,000.

I think this is the coolest streetbike honda ever made, id like to see them beat that, or pretty much just sell me a RC212 at half the price of the Ducati Desmodesci.
the whole oval piston v8 in a v4 package is just crazy, lol. but i love it

My favorite part about the NR story is where you get to see two things about Honda that represent them so well.

1. The Hatred of the over simplistic two stroke engine
2. The need to over complicate something to the point that NR engine did. I still belive that is the most incrediable looking engine i have ever seen.

The NR project was a huge and expensive failure but the biggest irony is that after 1982, when Honda finally decided to build a two stroke GP bike, Freddie Spencer beat Kenny Roberts to the world title.

The NR750 did achieve a pole position at the Suzuka 8 hour in 1987, but broke down shortly after the start.

My personal favorite V4 bike on that list, since the RC211V is a V5, is the VFR750 endurance racer. I have read that it was the late 80's endurance machines that more than anything else shaped how GP bikes and street bike would look like till this day.

Just compare the front ends on the 1991 VFR750 vs the 1985 NSR500
