Well now that Obama won by a landslide after making tons of promises and getting the world excited about it, do you think he has promised too much for only 4 or 8 years? Do you think he has set himself up or worse do you think people's expectations of the first Black President have set him up to fail.
He has promised a lot of change and more than that, people that have elected him, I think, think he will do even more than he promised already.
Do you think he will get everything accomplished or do you think he will fall short on certain key promises he has made?

Do you think he will reform healthcare?
Do you think he will get us out of WAR?
Do you think he will fix the economy back to Clinton economy days?
Do you think he will reform education in this country?
Do you think he will make aliances with countries we are enemies with?
Do you think he will make us NOT dependant on foreign oil?

Do you think he has the time to do ALL these things?
Do you think he has the resources to get these items done in a non-pardison way?
Do you think he can work with Democrats and Republicans in Congress to get all this done?

Personally I think he has promised the world to get elected and now the pressures on. Honestly, i can't see that he can complete his entire TO-DO list while in office for 4-8 years.

Honestly I don't think he's going to accomplish even half of what he says during his term. He knows it too, but I would go out on a limb and say most people voted for him because they think he will bring immediate fixes. Maybe he will put on a lot of band-aids, but I see his presidency being moderately effective at best. There's just too much shit going on and he himself knows we cannot afford to fix everything now. A lot of people are going to be disappointed by his term because for some reason people think we can fix all of these problems now.....pretty astounding really.

Resources will be the key factor. We obviously don't have shit for money right now, and to add on all this govt. oversight that he wants is going to cost way more than we can afford. What's he going to do, borrow more from China to execute his plans? Imo he is smart enough to understand he will only pull of a fraction of what he "promised" during his campaign. If Obama tries to execute everything he talked about expect our debt to skyrocket, along with inflation, unemployment, and just the overall shithole we are in. Even with the speech he gave after he won he came out and said his whole term might not make a difference, but I wouldn't expect that to actually be engrained with the public. They will expect a lot, and get very little. But only time will tell.

He's already said that he couldn't do it all in one term but he will put forth the effort.

Presidents rarely make good on all promises and i think people would be crazy to think most of what was talked about in primaries, etc will get done in 4 years...

Do you think he will reform healthcare? No not in 4 years, but you should see some changes to current social programs
Do you think he will get us out of WAR? Yes and it will probably be one of this smartest moves
Do you think he will fix the economy back to Clinton economy days? Yes in time. Economist think our recession will end next summer.
Do you think he will reform education in this country? No, but i hope to see some changes possibly with student loans and refi those loans
Do you think he will make aliances with countries we are enemies with? No, but i think he will begin relationships w/ people that we have turned our backs too
Do you think he will make us NOT dependant on foreign oil? No, but i hope we work to start energy infrastructure projects like solar, wind, etc

Do you think he has the time to do ALL these things? 4 years no, 8 possibly but doubtful
Do you think he has the resources to get these items done in a non-pardison way? Yes
Do you think he can work with Democrats and Republicans in Congress to get all this done? Yes, the problem will be w/ dems like pelosi if they lean too far left and w/ reps that want to stick their feet in the mudd and try to no allow change

I have said it before, and I will say it again. Listen to Obama's speeches, rally's, and even read the website. He has stated several times that America's problems cannot be solved in one term, but his efforts are to change the mind of the greedy America. There is no compassion left in this country, our $$ are spent on random shit, people are being fooled into agreements that severly hamper their lives, and to top it all off we don't take care of home.

All the points above have been answered pretty well by Paul. Obama's first four years are going to get the ball rolling to restore America. He will make changes that will impact the country immediately, but not solve EVERYTHING in 4. He is sitting up now choosing a cabinet and preparing to get to work day 1.

All we can do is hope for the best. I firmly believe that the next 4 will not get worse, and if he has to hand the reigns over in 2012, the President elect will want to continue the directional shift.

Some things will get done, some wont. If his heathcare plan passes, we are looking at across the board tax increases in double digit percentages. If his tax plan is passed, job loss will go up and his healthcare plan will have to go away. You can go on and on like this through his programs. He simply offered 10x more than is possible, even if we had a thriving, pre housing collapse economy.

Do you think he will reform healthcare? No, it ill simply be far too expensive
Do you think he will get us out of WAR? I hope he doesnt turn tail and run
Do you think he will fix the economy back to Clinton economy days? No, he will drive it further down if he gets his tax plan
Do you think he will reform education in this country? No, he is pro teachers unions and they are a major part of the problem
Do you think he will make aliances with countries we are enemies with? Dont know about this one, Clinton did this by apeasment, I hope Obama has more spine
Do you think he will make us NOT dependant on foreign oil?we will be more dependant

Do you think he has the time to do ALL these things? If he gets 8 years and tempers all of his programs to the center, yes
Do you think he has the resources to get these items done in a non-pardison way? I have no reason to think he will make any extra effort to work in any fashion with republicans
Do you think he can work with Democrats and Republicans in Congress to get all this done? The dems will swallow any pill he offers. He knows he doesnt need a single republican so he wont make any extra effort to work with them.

Any extra pressure that he is under was created by his campaign promises. Although if you look at the fact that dems broke every campaign promise they made in 06 and they still gained more power this year I find it hard to believe that dems will hold him accountable for anything bad. It will simply be blamed on Bush and the republicans. Just like Pelosi did after the first bailout package failed in the house.

but his efforts are to change the mind of the greedy America.

What about changin the minds of those expecting their handouts on every 1st and 15th? Greed is a part of the problem, though not nearly as much as dems would like you to think. Another part is this attitude by some that they are owed something, or they have rights to handouts. Neither are true, and both are growing at a dangerous pace.

There is no compassion left in this country,

You couldnt be more wrong. America is the most compassionate country in the world. What is running thin is our patience in people who's life ambition is to milk the handout system.

our $$ are spent on random shit, people are being fooled into agreements that severly hamper their lives, and to top it all off we don't take care of home.

I agree 100%. Though part of that is consumer ignorance, another part is the fine print that is written in a way that you need a lawyer to understand.

I agree, although I hope the next president shifts us more right and not left. Until this country makes self relaince its #1 priority we will continue to slip on the world stage.

You got a point there!!! It is not a need anymore!!!!:D It has been like that for years with both parties so even if it was a republican president they wouldn't want or need any answers from the dems.

There is no compassion left in this country.

Yea, I don't beleive this.. I don't make over $250k, actually far below that. I don't even make 6 figures but I am part of a charity foundation where I have the opportunity to help hundreds of people myself and the entire foundation actually helps thousands. I don't do it cause I have to, I do cause I want to. There is still a lot of compassion left in the world. My Charity is actually a brainstorm of a Multi-millionaire before he passed. He had more money than he could spend but gave a large amount of it away every year. He tried not to give it to the Government as much as possible but gave it away to places that really need it.

I don't beleive giving an organization like the government more money in taxes is going to help anything when the corrupt politicians continue to spend money on "Wooden Aeroheads for Boy Scouts" and "Golden Toilet Seats". Instead i would rather be able to give money to places and organizations that I know will use it for the growth and progress of the common people, not the politicians pockets or their Pork barrel spending causes. :tongue1:

Another part is this attitude by some that they are owed some, or they have rights to material objects. Neither are true, and both are growing at a dangerous pace.

I am basing my opinion on the "in my pocket" politicians (all parties) that run rampant across the states. Greedy people in power are the worst b/c they are all in if for self. Better discussed in person IMO.

Yes and no. I guess I am leaning on the leaders/business in this country, not so much the people directly. It's hard for me to type it out honestly.

Also, I agree the gov't assistance system is VERY flawed! I was naive to the fact that as a college student you are eligible for free money in the form of Food Stamps, lol. IMO there are people who need assistance, whether they fucked up or not, but it should be limited and strict. Honestly, its not just the handout system being milked! These big corps are pocketing $ that they know is dirty money. We need to tighten up the checks and balances of every government program AND the accounting practices of big/small business. Loopholes are all throughout and need to be plugged.

Consumer ignorance plays a large part, but baiting someone on false pretences is horrible. I do not expect us to "babysit" people in regards to their buying habits, but lets not play on peoples ignorance to get $.

I do the same! I help whenever I can. I will be out this weekend in teh L'ville community :goodjob:

I guess I could rephrase and say there is not ENOUGH compassion in this country.

Again, I was focused on the big business and political arena, but I get your point.

Yea, I just don't agree with paying more taxes, it's throwing good money after bad. Let the people decide what to give their money to. We pay enough taxes now. If we pull out of Iraq we will save a fortune and if we can some how weed out all the bad spending in Washington we can save a ton more and get back to doing business instead of being corrupt and only worrying about #1. Washington is corrupt:fact. I hope Obama can fix this. I won't hold my breath, but I have hope as we all should even though some didn't vote for him, have hope in your new free world leader.

The career politican is the bane of the American people. We all know they are only out for self, but we continue to re-elect them to new and higher offices based on what they will do for me. JFK said 1 thing that I have always tried to live by, or at least not against "ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country". Too many people today have that statement backwards. It's almost hard to believe JFK was a democrat when you look at the dems of today. He would probably be labeled as a far right neo-conservative in todays media.

I kind of know what you are saying, but I am a far right conservative on economic issues. I think busines is best left to monitor itself and the more govt intrusion in it, the more room there is for corruption on all levels.

We need a MAJOR overhaul of handout programs. I have no problem with govt assistance programs, I do have a problem with govt subsistance programs. With all of the oppertunities in this country, if you need govt assistance for more than 3-5 yers it is ONLY because you are not making an effort to help yourself.

Again I agree. People need to take responsibility for themselves and read that fine print, but at the same time, if they take the time to read it and its written in legalese how much good will it do? I know for a fact that I had to go abck through and re-read a loan agreement several times before I had a completel grasp on everything.
