i am looking for some good but fairly inexpensive tires for my stang. i just need 2 rear tires. the wheel is a 10.5x17 and i was looking for 315/45/17 or something close to that. if anyone knows where to get any let me know please.

The size you're asking for is an odd size. You can go 315/35/17, but they're not cheap. You can also go 275/40/17 or 285/40/17, but again they're not cheap. Do you have a 10 inch rim?

BTW, is this Nick?

He said the wheel is 10.5"...what size tire are you running on the front? That will better help you decide what size to run on the rear! I'd say a 315, although VERY stout and VERY wide, is the ablsolute WORSE choice if you're looking inexpensive. Just my $.07.

Actually, the Foreign/ IMPORT guys usually list the width before the diameter....and as I'd said, he may be looking for a 315/45, but it ain't gonna be inexpensive by ANY stretch of the imagination.

I dont think you are really making enough power to neccesatate a 315 tire, but I think you mean 315/35, not 45. I have 315/35s on my Cobra and I'm pretty sure 45s would be hidious....if they even make them...

That being said, Sumitomo makes some 315/35/17s that are sold on TireRack for $99ea. Hope that helps you out. Those will be the cheapest street tire you will find in that size. Drag radials are next in line @ about 170-220ea. The next cheapest street tires in that size are around $300/ea.

Yeah, I knew about the Summitomos, but I had them on my 91 SC, and in ANY kind of wet or condensational type weather, the rear wheels broke so easily. My SC is about 1000lbs heavier and WAS 100hp weaker than the Cobras, so I KNOW they're break them alot easier..and after only about 4K miles, the wet weather traction was HORRIBLE. I mean, it was white knuckle driving with them on 285 ANYTIME it even drizzled. I'd never EVER recommend anyone buying the Summitomos. There's a reason they're so cheap!

I agree with you, but I was just giving him an inexpensive option. I, personally, have never tried them, but my buddy ran them on his 03 cobra making 456/459 and he said that they were better than he thought they would be. But, I have read all over SVTPerformance not to waste money on them.

You mentioned driving with them in the rain....lol, have you tried half life 315 drag radials? Now THAT sucks :D
