bush barely got his feet wet before 9/11, surplus of funds, economy was good but starting on a down turn... now present day.

obama inherits all of above: 2 wars, failed economy, soaring deficit, and now russia threats

discuss.

Obama by far IMO

Being the first African AMerican President, the economy, the wars, the deficit, the energy crisis, plus, and this is not trying to be partisan, his lack of experience.

Bush had at least Goverened Texas and run BIG businesses. Obama really hasnt run a HUGE enterprise like the Fed Govt yet.

I wish him luck

I am saying Bush.

Obama knows what challenges face him ahead of time and has alot of time to prepare. Bush, like the rest of the country, was blindsided and needed to take action immediately, without the benefit of polling numbers and months of research. If Obama is hit immediately, like Biden says he will, then we will really see what he is made of and if he has the balls required to run this country.

Ya 3000 people dying compared to a financial crisis... To me America has the capacity to bounce back from the economy and rise out of this financial crisis. Plus Obama already thinks he has the plans and programs to help fix it, where as the worst Terrorist attack in U.S. history shocked America in a way it will and may never be shocked like that again.

I think that alone put Bush in a worse position than Obama is heading into right now, at least he has 65,000,000 plus Americans behind him, Bush never had this kind of following, respectively.

no

We are talking about WHO HAD IT WORSE COMING INTO OFFICE. 9-11 didnt happen until 1 year into Bushs presidency. Bush took over a recession created by clinton and a host of other "problems".

Obama is walking into 2 Wars, Economic Crisis, Oil Crisis, Housing Crises, etc etc etc

Now 9-11 perpetuated much of the problems we are having today in relation to the wars and energy crisis.

You could also say Bush had it very rough when he got his start because of the controversy surrounding the election and a heavily split public. His only saving grace was the republican congress.

Obama has MANY issues to deal with in his first 100 days. He will not get much of a grace period either. He has to immediately deal with some of the economic issues, mainly something to help confidence in the consumer and credit markets.

quick question mike, what policies that clinton created helped cause the 2001 recession?

The main one was the dot com bubble bursting. I think that was more the over exploitation of an unproven media than any poitical policy.

W had just as much time to prepare for the "recession" that Clinton left him as Obama has to prepare for the mess that W left him. The difference is that W was handed a record surplus and a balanced budget and a fairly secure foreign policy climate (Clinton had even been keeping watch over Al Qaeda/OBL since the WTC bombing). Obama will be handed a massive deficit, a couple of wars, and a foreign policy outlook thats not too good.

fairly secure foreign policy climate (Clinton had even been keeping watch over Al Qaeda/OBL since the WTC bombing).

I agree with the rst of your post, but this part is total fabrication. Our secure foreign policy was nothing more than a lack of action. The only people that liked us more then than now are the ones that like to see America down.

If he was keeping such a close eye on Al Qaeda why did we get attacked on 9/11? Why didnt he take him out when he had a chance? Dont give me that, he wasnt in office at the time BS because the planning was done and the people were in the US well before the election. In reality, Clinton gutted the human intelligence aspects of our intelligence services and relied only on electronic intell. Starting several months before the attacks we were getting sniffs of something big happending, but we never got any solid intell until it was too late. Clinton also created an atmosphere of cometition between the intelligence services, which caused them to keep everything in house until there were firm estimates. It came out after the attacks that we info scattered around the DIA, CIA, FBI and NSA that they planned to use planes in an attack on NYC.

mike i know what caused the recessions and clinton's tax policies were not one of them.

i, on the otherhand, read all types of articles mainly non-partisan.

the only people that blamed clinton/bush for the 2001 recession were the resepective parties. the reasons that the 2001 recession happened were because of the .com bubble (like you said), the accounting scandals, and 9/11 helped deepen the recession.

you can sit there and read one sided articles all you want and blame either president for the recession but infact this recession was not any presidents fault.

Clinton also created an atmosphere of competition between the intelligence services, which caused them to keep everything in house until there were firm estimates.

As opposed to believing some looney named Achmed Chalabi word for word when he claimed Iraq had WMD with very little substantive proof and no backup sources.

When you look at some of the things that happened during the Clinton administration:

1992 WTC bombing
1993 Waco seige
1995 Oklahoma City bombing
the 1996 Olympic bombing
the 1999 school shootings (Columbine etc)
the 2000 USS Cole bombing

If anything you could say that Clinton had more experience handling terrorism than Bush.

BanginJimmy

1992 WTC bombing
no response from US govt.

1993 Waco seige

FBI and ATF screw up, absolutely no ties good or bad to the President

1995 Oklahoma City bombing

Domestic terrorist. Police did their job and caught the 2 involved. 1 has since been executed

the 1996 Olympic bombing

Domestic terrorist, he was caught

the 1999 school shootings (Columbine etc)

Whiny kids are not the presidents concern. They are the parents concern.

the 2000 USS Cole bombing

No response from the US govt.

You also forgot the bombings of the 2 embassies in Kenya and Nairobi in mid 98 if I remember correctly. The US response was 2 tomahawk missles into camps that were known beforehand to be empty.

If anything you could say that Clinton had more experience handling terrorism than Bush.

We suffered more attacks during his presidency because of his lack of a spine in dealing with them. If Clinton would have made an example of those that support terrorism back in 93, maybe we wouldnt have seen the other 3 attacks in the 90's or the attack on the WTC in 01.

Didn't think anyone would've voted Bush. Every single sector has a big "?" mark by it, we're in a war, facing other foreign threats, in a state of economic turmoil, doubled deficit 10+ tril.....i'll stop there.

I know we have history to look at Bush's first 9 months in office and we dont have that luxery with Obama, but Obama still knows what is looming ahead for him when it becomes official on January 20. He still has nearly 3 months to prepare for his first 100 days. Bush didnt have any warning before 9/11 and it really changed any focus he may have had for his years as President. That may happen to Obam too in his first year in office.
