Thacker's Camaro vs WishIwuzFast Neon - Video

He called me out, so we got to it.

Met with him at the spot and he brought a friend.

Friend road in my car so we could film.
Camaro = driver + passenger Neon = Driver

Neons mods are really unknown. he's got a ton of bolt ons, intercooler etc. He will have to chime in if he feels like telling his mods. His car pulls damn good for what it is.

I was granny shifting pretty hardcore in the video, still having slave cylinder issues. Will prob have to pull it out and swap it pretty soon.

First run is a 20-25 punch. It was pretty brutal. Camaro hooked up good and the neon couldn't.

Next run was a 40 punch. I delayed on his honks to make sure he got a good start. I only pull .5 - .75 cars to 115.


I popped my hood and showed him the nitrous was disconnected. I didn't even take my bottle with me. I am changing out to a window switch and fuel pressure safety switch so that should be done soon enough.

Neon popped his hood but I didn't know what I was looking at.

Edit. Here is the second video wishIwuzfast was upset I didn't post. In this run he honks 1......2.3 and takes off. He got a sizeable jump from a 20 punch. I nailed it, spun... and still caught him and passed him. I didn't post it originally because to me, it makes his car look very slow. With a .5 second jump, and my car spinning I shouldn't have been able to come around him like I did. Oh well, you wanted it.. .here it is.

No offense to your neon, but my camaro is slow as dog piss. It's 4.11 geared for a dig, suspension for a dig, and the motor is built for the juice.

Well. We missed the first 2 runs on video when you had a passenger and I didn't and I pulled about 5 cars. :goodjob:

If you were in the wrong gear, and you honked I am sorry it was like that. I knew you had to have fucked up because it shouldn't have been that bad. No one thinks your car is slow, you hung right with me in the second race.

Passenger does make quite the difference however.

Missing a gear happens to everyone from time to time, the clean runs are all any of us really care to see anyway, and thats what he posted. Yes you spun alot from the 20 kick, but you agreed to the race thats part of it.

Runs look good, to be set up for strictly dig that Camaro is quick from a roll, going to be scary fast from a dig. 4.10's, passenger, 40 roll, no spray outrunning a mid 300whp SRT-4 is pretty impressive. Good runs :goodjob:

The reason for spinning / not spinning was the tire heat. One of the runs was before the other one, so when the tires are cold even from a 40 they spin, but on the next race they hook.

Common sense would tell you on a cold night, tire heat makes PLENTY of difference... but you'd actually have to have something to race, and experience to have that knowledge.

my buddy's 01 WS6 made 310rwhp on a Dyno Dynamics machine (the heart breaker). My car made 338rwhp on that same dyno, but then made 404rwhp on a dynojet. That puts his car somewhere around 350ish with only an intake and an electronic exhaust cut out.

Thacker also only claims to have a 50shot...I wonder if anyone actually believes that?

I just wanted someone to compare the car to.

That was the first time I've taken the car over 6k rpms since I put it back together. If you notice I was short shifting in the video as my shift light didn't even come on. Power doesn't peak until about 6700 rpms, so running it out to the 7200 limiter would have put another car length or so on the Neon but I am still in "test the car and make sure its right stage"

It did ok for a few shake down runs.

Thats why I tried to set up a track day for the KF members a couple weeks back, that we rescheduled for this Friday. Weather permitting I would like for you to make it out, I'd like to check out the XRunner up close. I've always liked those trucks, and your red car was always one of my favorites on the board. +4 to you :goodjob:

old news....i have sold my forged motor to buy the Jeep. I am sporting a stock longblock lt1 with a blower and massive 7 psi of intercooled boost. When i was tuning it on a dyno the car smoked so bad that there is no doubt in my mind that the piston rings have seen better days lol

The LT1 blocks are pretty tough though, I'm sure they'd hold close or over 500 HP.

I was trapping 110 mph with HOM off. With HOM on, I've trapped up to 120 mph. It makes that big of a difference.

Coolingmist has a meth kit designed for the Mopar Stage 3 kit. If you run that kit, HOM is available 24/7 on pump gas. ;)
