View Full Version : Got a stock tip a while back
Kind of on a whim, but someone told me that there are certain Solar companies that.. if Obama wins you want their stock. I questioned this but as I compared a chart of stock quotes for certain Solar energy companies the chart was a direct reprint of Obama's poll numbers.. when they dropped so did the stock, as his numbers rose the stock followed. I'm holding quite a few shares of one of those companies and as the election gets closer things are going well.. even as the rest of my portfolio drops.
Just figured I'd pass this along, do not take it as a credible source.. just an opinion and an observation.

Company names?
You're anti Obama so I cannot divulge that kind of info..
lol There were a few I looked at, cannot remember the names since it was months back. The one I bought into was SolarFun Power Holdings, another was Vestas Wind Systems, but they are foreign. (backlogged with orders for Solar materials though) There are a couple of others, they all tumbled with the massive stock melt down last month but have been pretty solid and I expect they will rebound nicely under an administration that is Solar friendly.

should bought some First Solar (FSLR) last week (you'd be up 50%).

hold on, i just checked the chart. tony, how are you up 80%? are you shorting it or somthing? because i see a recent low of 95 bucks, and if u some how magically got in at 95, thats sitting at a 70% gain.
lemme know :)
I bought in back in early October.. at $7.60 a share, it dropped down to $6 something, came back up to around $7.50 and I'll have to admit I panicked and sold. I figured my advice was not credible since I thought I was buying low at $7.60.. well when it dropped down to $4.50 last week I used a good portion of the funds I had available and Solar Fun closed at $8.24 yesterday.
The gain over 5 days is like 81%, in actuality I'm up about 65% with fees and the losses I took. I consider this gain more luck than strategy, I'm just curious as to what will happen after today.

cool sorry. i was looking at FSLR (the one Lamar mentioned above). For some reason i thought that was the one you bought.
Looks like the fun solar chart has some room to grow. At 100%, sell off your principal. I have kicked myself many a times for not doing that. :D
