View Full Version : Oil leak while running

The engine is a mid '90s JDM GSR, unknown miles, but runs decent. I drove the car with the hood off ("I have a mullet" style) and ran the car out in the first few gears. I slowed down and noticed some oil on my windshield, pulled over, and checked out what was going on. It's from the driver's side, front of the motor. I can't tell where it's coming from as it will drip down but also get blown upwards. I've tried cleaning off the motor untill it's spotless to see where the oil is leaking from, but I still can't tell. Anyone have some ideas of what I could look for? If it matters, my upper timing cover is off, but I haven't seen any oil from that side of the motor; it's also getting oil on the bottom of the hood, while I'm not being a redneck. If anymore info is needed, just ask. http://images.honda-tech.com/set1/smile/emthup.gif
Thanks in advance!

could be a cam seal or crank seal if the oil is behind timing cover, it could be leaking on the timing belt and the belt is slinging the oil back up

Oil leak while running

Has anyone ever confused you with someone with a brain? The answer is more clear than a Windex washed pane of glass.

Don't run.

Easy motherfucking E. Lolol. Later, QD.

if it happens when running the car into the upper RPM's i would check the crank breather box on the back of the block to see if it has an *snicker* oily discharge.

Well, we all know the B series motor is roughly a rectangular prism, so if it's on the driver's side of the front... then it's not where the timing cover is...

I still <3 you though, lol

Does it leak any oil if you are just sitting there at idle?

It's futile. It's what Hondas do at our house. Try leaving it at Logan's for a night. That will fix it I am sure.

You're evan's bro right? I tried sending you pics of a wheel on your phone for the civic. Not sure if you got it or not.

front main seal.

You do know that's inside the timing cover... and it's spotless in there?
