ok guys, so i changed my tranny fluid about 2 days ago and now its grinding in 2nd gear

i used castrol heavy duty straight 30w

ive heard good things about the gm synchromesh and just wanted to see wat mtf you guys are running. and do you guys actually think the gm synchromesh would help my grinding?

how about the honda mtf?

i have run both honda mtf and gm synchromesh. the mesh worked good in my old tranny that had a synchro grind, but i stick with honda mtf on a good tranny. honda recommends 10w30 or honda mtf.

not as much as the synchomesh would. MAKE SURE YOU GET GM SYNCHROMESH FRICTION MODIFIED!!! there are two kinds, one says friction modified the other doesnt. get the friction modified

I had my 3rd gear grinding and changed it with Pennzoil syncromesh which is supposed to be like GM synchromesh and my grind has never shown itself again. and I can ven shift fast and it doesn't do it.

Syncromesh friction modified FTW. Honda MTF is as good as regular motor oil.

i work on these cars all day everyday, and i would NEVER use syncromesh.. that stuff may seem like its helping but its really not good for honda manual transmissions..

i always use honda MTF or 10w30..

WTF?

Why the hell would you put shit that thick in your trans?ONe of my friends that build Hondas for like the past 8years uses that thick stuff...Said he never had any problems:thinking: So I thought that would be too thick he said nope:crazy:

put in pennzoil synchromesh...still grinding. How many did you put in???And it does take a little bit of time to work,Unless you have a horrible grind mines used to grind when the car got to operating temp. But not when the car was cold so I figured syncromesh would help but if yours grinds 24/7,Then yea its time for a new tranny....

had a slight 3rd gear grind had vuong throw in some gm syncromesh and i havent had a problem id go for that in your case. i see you posted that its too much money thats why you didnt get it. how much have you spent trying all these cheaper options vs just buying the gm stuff??

its not that its too much money, is just the fact that pennzoil synchromesh is the same thing as gm synchromesh.

im gonna let about 1 or 2 weeks go by to see if it works. if not ill get gm synchromesh friction modified

if not, someone sell me a b16 tranny :2cents:

Tell your friend he doesn't know shit from Tuesday, and he's ruining transmissions. Also, get that junk out of your trans.

I've ran GM Synchromesh & Pennzoil Synchromesh in the past and I don't really recall them making any differences so I most of the time I just run 10-30. Currently running Lucas Oil Stabilizer + 1 QT of 10-30.
