1996 Gemballa 911 GTR 600

At their London Motorcar Sale, RM Auctions sold this Gemballa Turbo. Their catalogues described the car as:

"The Porsche presented here started life as a 993 Turbo, sent by its first owner to Gemballa for modifications totalling approximately £173,000. The resulting car is believed to be one of only five GTR 600s in existence of its generation and has covered just 24,140 kilometres from new. It boasts a rebuilt, 600-horsepower horizontally-opposed six-cylinder engine and retains the 993’s four-wheel drive. Numerous lightweight external features include honeycomb doors and bonnet, carbon fibre and Kevlar wings with GT2 RSR wheel arches, body kit, and side and rear windows of Makrolon. Mechanically, the car benefits from a full race suspension, GT2 clutch and a full Brembo braking system.

The vehicle was recently tested at Santa Pod Raceway in the United Kingdom and posted an astonishing 11.4-second standing quarter mile. A standard 993 Turbo S, by comparison, achieved 11.9-second quarter mile times in a road test carried out by Motor Trend, effectively placing the GTR 600’s performance within range of the Ferrari Enzo, which was introduced eight years later! Despite this staggering performance, the GTR 600 is very manageable at slow speeds and feels remarkably similar to a standard 993 Turbo. The car comes complete with an extensive history file that documents all the work done. In addition, an extra pair of Recaro racing seats and belts are included with the sale.

In the highly competitive international market of Porsche tuners that includes such renowned names as RUF, TechArt, Hamann, and even Sportec of Switzerland, Gemballa consistently remains a frontrunner and was even named “No. 1 Porsche Tuner” by the foremost German car magazine, Auto Motor und Sport."

I love how they mention this...."effectively placing the GTR 600’s performance within range of the Ferrari Enzo, which was introduced eight years later!"

I'm sure if you build a 90 Civic that can do 9's in the quarter mile you can use this quote as well.

Aside from that though, the car is fukin gorgeous.

I'm wondering if they meant driving behavior as well.

That thing is nuts though!
