I am wanting to do a mini me swap with my y7 and put a y8 head on it. I have been calling around to shops to see how much they would charge to do it if i had all the parts. Well they are wanting 500+ to do the job. I cat realy afford that so i am trying to get the info together to do it myself. I am not realy wanting do do it myself just becaue i have to drive this car every day. I know that nobody knows me for a whole in the wall but i was just hoping that thier might be sombody that might be able to help me do the swap. I am looking for sombody that has done it before just so i know that we do it all right the first time and we can get it done ASAP after we start. I will pay whom ever helps me at least 100 bucks or more seeing that i dont have the tools or the place to do this job. If anybody could holp me out it would be cool, and if not well.... i guess that it will have to be cool, lol. Also if sombody knows a shop that would not charge 500+ to do the job that would be great also.
Thanks,
Vteckidd

you get what you pay for.
I think you called here yesterday. I charge $500 to remove and install a head. that includes a Headgasket and Cam seal, and valve cover gasket. so if you supply all those parts, itll run you $400. I also recomend doing a timing belt and water pump at this time if your due for one. thats extra though.
Then, since its a mini me, i have to wire in vtec which i charge $75/Hour. itll only take me an hour so ill only charge you $75. i hope you have the correct VTEC ECU.
keep in mind we have to change your oil, filter, and coolant (which is included in that cost) after you pull a head. oil and coolant usually always mix so we have to change everything.
If you dont know what you are doing you should not attempt this. you need to know:
the proper TQ sequences for the bolting the head on
how many ft/lbs to TQ the head to
What headgasket to use
Did your new head come with an intake manifold? cause if not you have to swap everyhing over from your old one
How to realign the camshaft gear and timing belt and make sure the block is on TDC or TOP DEAD CENTER
if you dont know what im talking about, GO BUY A HONDA SERVICE MANUAL. it will tell you 90% of what you need to do.
Your big thing is that this is your only car, and its sposed to be reliable. well to me, paying someone you dont know $100 to do a job that clearly costs a lot more is gonna run you into trouble. im all for doing it yourself, you learn a lot that way. but i dont think a novice should attempt a job this hard for their first job. let me know if you need any help. ill do what i can. but i would personally save up more money and let the proffesionals aka shops in ATL handle this one if reliability is your big factor

i understand, $500 is alot of money.
thats why i broke it down for you so you could see why it costs so much.
just make sure whoever helps you knows what they are doing, cause individuals arent so quick to fix their mistakes like a shop will.
like my father always said, you pay for 1st class service

yea... i know that having a shop do it would be the best thing to do. I am hopeing to find sombody that has done it before so we can do it the correct way. (the first time)
Hey Jon00... Have you done it before? Maybe if you had the place to do it, we could both help him out and split the $$?
BTW: I have done this before.

lol.... well..... are you going to be able to help? ir do you just need to think about it?
Hey fly00... If your confident that you can get this job done right the first time, then the job is yours. I have only done one, my own, and it was a little while back... SO, I'd be playing catchup. If you need help though, just gimme a call. 770-380-4295. I'm Mike.

im not really sure, but i can tell you that my y8 w/ intake and exhaust only made 103whp and 93wtq, altho i have seen stock ones making 106whp or so before (i wish mine couldve been like that) Not sure what a mini-me can put out but theres ya a comparison once you find out.
