Sup, IA. Ya'll always seem to come up with some wild ideas for stuff like this, so I'm looking for your help.

I'm moving out to California on military orders. I'm leaving next wednesday to check into my base (Miramar in San Diego) but I'm deploying immediately to Iraq. It's pointless to bring the car over there now, but in May when I return, I'll want to get my car over there.

I was looking at logistics, and most shippers are looking to run about 1100-1200 for an open trailer, and about 1500 or so for an enclosed trailer. Gas I'm estimating to be about 400$ (give or take depending on gas prices, but that's 25mpg, 2500miles, and 3.50/gal...plus some extra) But it's alot to ask someone to take that kinda time off work, and to put that effort into the trip. But I may just hire someone if I can't get it moved cheaper than 1200$.

Ideas?

For what it matters, it's an '06 Mustang GT 5spd.

A friend had his wagon shipped from SD for around $750 enclosed I believe. I'll hit him up later and see who he used.

What about the gas? I'll get your ticket and hotel...but the drive will probably be nonstop, LoL.

Wait...the girlfriend is driving the uhaul...you'll get a 15minute break every hour on the hour.

Seriously, why do they have such small bladders?

Seriously, you're right. My girl last night was like, "you need to talk to me when something bugs you"

So today I was like "I'm not happy that we haven't had much sex this whole month I've been on leave. And now I'm about to be moving to Cali? And then deployed?"

...and she can't understand why I'm pissed, and she's liek "I don't even know if you wanna have sex with me or not, anymore"

I was like "this is why I don't talk to you about things that are on my mind..."

Young PFC, I think you are missing something. The military will pay for you to bring it there. Although they will not pay to ship it (due to you being CONUS) they will pay you to drive it there (mileage, gas, meals and lodging). Due to you getting stationed there, so instead of flying there you can drive and get the travel time, because they only want you to travel 8 hour a day. So, pick a spot or two on the way that you want to visit and stay overnight.

Madd reps for you...

I had heard about that, but I never heard exactly how it was setup. No one could really say for sure.

Here's my predicament, though. I already bought a non-refundable plane ticket for this upcoming wednesday because I didn't know how the driving out there setup worked. It worked well for me because I didn't wanna drive the car, anyways, as it would just end up parked out there because I'm deploying immediately. According to my leave papers, I'm flying out there, as well. I don't have the gas money to drive the car out there, at this point. You know how PFC pay is... I was told I'll have leave when I return from my deployment, though, and also the girlfriend is wanting to move to Cali with me and has offered to bring the car...but if I can save her the trouble, or put some money towards the move, I'd like to.

Checkin' up, you're the one I talked to on the phone and advised me to stay east coast since I live here, right? As expected from military, I put in request for east coast and ended up west, LoL.

Anyways, back on topic, catch me on some ideas...
