I just want these rumors of rioting to go away. I really dont want this to end in a negative light. Have you heard some of the crazy things being said?

Robert Kubica said there were signs from the fans asking him to run into Lewis.

Dammit no i didnt hear about that. Thats fucking brazilians for you lol. In the brazilian newspaper though they had interviews with Massa and he was absolutely clear that he wants a clean race and that if he loses he will try his best next year. Barrichello was asked if he would help out Massa. He said he would if he could but that its impossible, and that Massa would hate if anyone crashed into Hamilton on purpose. He definately doesnt want to win that way. If you could speak portuguese and listen to the way Massa talks you would know instantly that he is a good guy with a good heart. So I hope the brazilian crowds understand him and act civilized lol.

I am hoping for a miracle and that Massa wins the championship. He definitely deserves it this year, but either way, I think Massa got 2009 in his pocket. Hamilton just doesnt have the maturity.

GO MASSA

I remember last year that it came down to a 3 way fight and Alonzo was my pick for the title. Alonzo sure helped the outcome but it was Hamilton's vice of fighting Alonzo that hurt him early. Even still that mechanical problem took Lewis out for good.

Last years finish was the most extraordinary thing i have ever seen. I doubt it will ever happen again. Kimi was NOT supposed to win and he did. Massa is in that position this year except Lewis' teammate is more a team bitch than the furious rival Alonzo was and rightfully so. Big day starts tomarrow with qualifing. It might rain and maybe Hamilton will fail to get past Q2

I wonder when people will start bitching about Glock "giving" the championship to Hamilton?

IMHO, it was a racing thing...strategy didn't pan out and they suffered because of it. Up to the last lap, they were saying how fast Timo was on the full slicks. Then the rains came...

I'm proud of Lewis for not leaving the car till the wheel was back on it. With McLaren's luck, it would have been incredibaly stupid since that is a class A offence in F1.

Besides that, even though he almost lost it, it was his championship. Glock was running his own race just like Trulli, Fisichela, and Vettle were running their own race. I dont see anything that could taint this.

Last year we can remember the fuel issue with the Williams cars and McLarens propsed appeal but Ferrari dont have anything. Massa lost fair.

Congrats Hamilton. The youngest ever champion.

I'll make a wrap up thread tommarow.

Thought this was interesting.

Ferrari ambassador Michael Schumacher was at Portigual for the Superbike race instead of Brazil.

Not racing obviously but Michael is looking more and more into two wheels. He does currently compete in the German national championship.

It was the last lap, with only a few more turns to go for the finish. Seems like he could've kept on driving without even worrying about pitting. Yet he obviously let Hamilton go by, gaining a position. Sure, I can't put it all on Glock -- but he played a part.

yes , normally that is what you'd think but the gamble was for the rain to stay away and it came hard with 2 to go. On the last lap Glock had a 13 sec lead over Lewis on a track that takes 1:12 to cover.

Remember Heidfeld at Spa? He pitted at the end and drove around 6 cars to get on the podium. On top of that, Hamilton's tires were graining when he was passed by Vettle so Lewis lost eben more time to Glock. In the same shot when Lewis drives around Glock, you can see Glock getting on and off the power because it just kept spinning.
It just wasn't meant to be.

Hahaha....

Who would have thought that Toyota would have so much to do with the outcome of the championship. LOL

Toyota gambled and it almost worked. Glock was 2 corners away from going from 7th to 4th on that strategy.

Oh, well. Congrats to Hamilton.

FreeMyndz

LOL...Schumi was in Portugal?!?!?...I just figured he was in Sao Paolo...

Yeah, I'm proud of Lewis for not leaving the car til the wheel was back on too. It woulda been all the FIA needed to dock points or whatever. Although he was gracious after Interlagos last year and didn't bitch about the fuel violations for the other drivers.

Yeah, nice piece of publicity for Toyota...

I'm putting this up for the conspiracy theorists saying Glock "gifted" Hamilton.

These are the sector times for the final lap and you can see comparison of Glock on slicks vs Vettle and Hamilton on wets.

There was no gift. Glock's tires were just impossible to drive on in the wet. If you check the sector times you'll see that Glock was considerably slower in every sector on that last lap:

Sector 1: Glock, 24.8 vs Hamilton, 21.6 vs Vettel, 21.8
Sector 2: Glock, 54.7 vs Hamilton, 45.2 vs Vettel, 45.1
Sector 3: Glock, 25.0 vs Hamilton, 19.3 vs Vettel, 19.0

13 secs. Gone.

Also, Glock's sector times were quicker than those of his teammate Trulli who was also on the dry tires at the time, so unless there was some mass conspiracy going on at Toyota (unlikely, considering how aggressively they went after McLaren & Ferrari in both qualifying and the first stint) his difficulties were legit.

Remember at Spa this year how Heidfeld on the intermediates charged his way up from 11th to 3rd on the final lap? F1 cars are virtually undriveable on the wrong tires when wet. If you also take into consideration that the last corner at Interlagos is usually taken flat out (190 mph or better... impossible to do on dry tires in the wet) you'll agree that Glock had to back way off. He had no choice. He even said as much in his interviews.

Good data. Those who think Glock gave the spot away are simply not informed or are just stupid. Toyota took a gamble to grab some extra positions by staying out. It almost worked. If the rain had held just a 30 seconds more, Glock would have taken 4th place and Trulli 6th. This would have also meant that Massa would have taken home the Championship.

SampaGuy
11-03-2008, 01:15 PM
If Trulli hadnt spun out for no reason earlier, he would have stayed in front and perhaps delayed Hamilton enough to allow Glock to finish before Hamilton... damn toyotas haha.

I looked this up, too and came to the conclusion that Glock didn't give it away as I had earlier thought.

I just feel extra bad for Massa because he didn't make a mistake the whole race, when Hamilton seemed to get extremely lucky and have the championship title fall in his lap during the last turn.

Cool Cat Racing
11-03-2008, 03:12 PM
It didn't fall in his lap, he had it going into the race. It was up to Massa to take it from him and in the end he placed as high as possible,he just needed some luck to force Hamilton to 6th or worse. That's how championships should be won, not some blow out from the beginning where its obvious who will win. I kept falling asleep during the race but what I saw was pretty good racing. I stayed up way too late saturday to stay awake for the whole race, though I tried to. NASCRAP is much better to sleep through, the only important parts (the crashes) will have so many replays I'll get to see it plenty of times.

I finally just watched qualifying and the race after not reading ANY notes from it. So I am shocked.

I am EXTREMELY upset lol.

I can tell right now Glock did not give his spot up though, on slicks, conditions getting bad, and like said that high speed turn, it's just impossible in a car like that. I thought driving a IT car on slicks in the rain was creepy no thanks in a F1 car in that corner.

Hamilton had it 100% luck though. And all I can say for 09 is VETTEL.
