hey guys, im trying to get v-tec working in the crx with a b16a(older version of b16) I am confused because the people that tried to wire it before hooked up the IAB solenoid wire to the vtec solenoid. from what I have read it says A8 on my harness is the line that goes to vtec solenoid. so im in the process of putting a pin in a8 and running it to the vtec solenoid, but I am unsure if I have to use the IAB line or even where it goes. any help ould be great.

well, I ran the line and the cel code 21(vtec solenoid) is no longer showing...but still no vtec. CEL codes 6,9, and 10 are showing. the car drives PERFECT, no problems other than just no vtec :( so now I am wondering if one of the cel codes is causing it not to engage. tried re-grounding the vtec pressure sensor for shits and giggles and nothing still, My rad. fan is not hooked up so im thinking cel code 6 is what that is or maybe cel 9 was the coolant cel, I can't remember but one is causing the other not to happen i guess. If anyone can help i would really appreciate it. hell ill even pay someone cash to come help me fix it and get off some of the damn codes. i've been at it all day lol

well, havent had my car for a few days, but still wondering why vtec isn't kicking in. no dents in oil pan, oil is new, vtec solenoid strainer is clean, just still wondering what the iab(intake air box) really is. is it the black box under the IM? this is the SIR 88-91 version of the b16a, so I do not know if it even requires the IAB. but either way still researching and trying to find my problem. I will replace the cap soon because I pulled it off and the male pin on it is all rusty.

I know every civic I've had (3), vtec wouldn't engage if there were ANY CELs.

No problem, and goodluck! My buddy spent about $300 on different things trying to get his car to have no CELs, so he could have vtec.
