recently finished up my swap and decided to make a little thread...is nothing too special just a stock ls/vtec b16 head and tranny, my original plan was to go with an ls but i started looking at how slow my car was gonan be so decided to go VTEC...this was my first swap in any car and my first motor build...did it all by myself.

b18a block
b16 head
b16 tranny
arp head studs, rod bolts, main studs
golden eagle ls vtec kit
acl rod and main bearings. acl thrust washers
type r oil pump
stock ls rods. stock ls pistons
oem honda piston rings
stage 2 f1 racing ebay clutch
f1 racing ebay 9lbs. flywheel...both work great
arp flywheel and pressure plate bolts.
stock b16 ecu.soon to be converted to obd1
innovative mounts

it was a bitch, i fucking hate the rear mount bracket...but dont ever drop a b series into a crx by yourself at 9 o clock at night, your neighbors will look at you really weird and you want to throw shit at everyone thats drives by.

crx had some 17" racing harts i took off from my blue ef hatch before i junked it...their too big so i traded them for some si wheels just a couple of days ago.

Do you have future plans for this thing? I'm talking about header, intake manifold, etc. LS pistons are kind of disappointing, and you really can't use any nice aggressive cams since the valve reliefs are too small.

Nice build! Hopefully if you up one day we can do some runs...And I know what you mean about dropping the motor in I was doing it by myself.My neighbors was looking really crazy.And back mount takes some work to get in It took me like all day to figure it out.I kept stopping and going in then I figured out.Back bolt first then the ones that go on the tranny and motor.HAHA

yea im gonna boost it soon, i used my stock ls pistons because i was on a budget and needed my car running...i have another ls block and im gonna build that one for boost. the head will be built as well too, but probably not for a while...for now im probably just gonna get a header and some other little bolt ons...


southside. im gonna ride up to atl one day to go to the varsity meet, we can do some runs...people down here where i live dont like to race...on the bracket, i put the top one that goes on the tranny and then i had a friend push down on the motor and stock the other bolt through the mount. its a bit easier if you got small hands like me.

Seriously, you should of invested in some p30 pistons since the motor was apart! To late now, so now hurry up and get it converted so you can get a tune for your setup.

yea all he did was push down a little on the intake mani...that was like a couple of days after the motor was in, i dropped it in myself tho and had it sitting on the 2 side mounts.

i wanted to invest in both pistons and rods but i have to save up money for college cause i will be moving out on my own and all that

im converting to obd1 and its getting boosted when i come up with some more money.

the innovative mounts are good...i wouldnt really be able to tell you about the vibrations cause all i have on it is a downpipe, should be getting my exhaust next week so ill let you know if it vibrates still.


bigdare, it was definetely a lesson learned, thing about it is i didnt do any of the shit i was charged for, some random guy assumed i was doing stuff so he called the cops on me and i got arrested...have court in december, we will see wat happens, if i dont have to pay the 3 grand that i owe just in traffic citations then i will keep the car.

btw. does anyone know about traffic laws and shit and when you get arrested for something you didnt know, i need some more knowledge on this before i go to court.

better be a laywer that can garuntee you'll get out of the charges ur facing. my girl sold her JDM GSR swap to get her a laywer ($3,500) for a DUI case, she wasn't even drinking that night. she ended up loosing the case and her licnse for 4 months. she always say that if she could do it all over again she would have kept her swap and gotten a public defender.

so basicly wat im trying to say is... if that laywer cant get u off, then keep ur car.

nothing would suck more than not having a car u put ur blood, sweat, and tears into and loosing this case.
if u want i know a good bit about traffic laws since i have pretty much broken them all (not braging), if u want u can PM me wat ur facing and i might be able to give u some advice.:goodjob:

i think im gonna loose the case even tho i didnt do it, an off duty cop was the one that said i was doing all the shit

either way, i think im gonna have to sell the car, if i loose the case woudlnt i have to pay all the tickets? all i paid so far was a percent of my bond...the bond equals up to hte amount of all the tickets.

BTW All motorYea that is true but he has ls pistons in his ls/vtec.Should be better for boost with the low compression than all motor.Because if you add silly cams then they wont have enough valve relief.I believe dont quote me here.:lmfao:

well then he should just go boost then. that way all he has to do is slap on the turbo kit and get a really good tune! thats wat i would do, that way he wouldn't have to pull the motor and take it apart.

yea i didnt take a lot of pics casue i was busy trying to get that motor in as soon as possible, tahts why i left the stock ls pistons on there and also because i have like 3 ls blocks laying around

either way, if i go all motor or boost the motor tahts in now is coming out.

kinda want to go all motor since i found a set of type r pistons when i was cleaning out my shed not too long ago. lol

Dont listen to Southside and use CTR pistons in a 1.8L block. That will bump your compression ratio up to high

I have seen it done and runs great,So if you have seen it done.Also still ran 93 with no detonation and 404s.:thinking: So if you dont know what im talking about you shouldnt speak on it.:goodjob:

CTR pistons are the same bore as every other b-series motor except the b20

Well, I'm doing a LS/V also into my 93 Civic Hatch. Almost done with it now. Think the startup will be around the first week of Jan. I pray that it runs great with little to no problems. But we will see. Done anything different to yours lately? (Haven't read everything so the answer is probably already here... lol)

nah dude i havent done shit man, i got in some trouble and payed a lot of money to get shit fixed...i almost sold it

just got some stuff planned for the chassis like new shocks, but a new header is going on soon and obd1 conversion, running a chipped ecu from phearable until i get more money for turbo
should be on boost around the summer time.

before you put your motor in dude, make sure you tapped and plugged your head. dotn want 5qts. of oil to leak out as soon as you start it. and get some good rods or at least arp rod bolts, my car hasnt gave me any problems yet. i like the lsv. pulls for it having stock pistons and shit.

i usually rev to around 7600. i have taken it to 8, no more tho.
