I have fat fives on my teg right now. The tire size is 195/50/15...So i have Koni shocks and eibach sportline springs, 1.7...I am looking to get some larger wheels so my teg wont be so low. And i want to add a lip kit or body kit. I put my bros 17's with 215/40/17 tires. They were too wide and were rubbing the fender well. My question is, would 17's with a 195 tire on it be fine?

205/40 series tire should be fine on a 17". i dont think you can put a 195 on a 17x7 wheel.

all i want is my car to be a bit higher off the ground. What can i do to do this? Get larger wheels? would a 40 or 50 make it higher?
The lower u go in that second number (for instance 205/40/16) the smaller the distance from the edge of the rim's lip to the edge of the tire will be. The higher you go in the first number, the wider the tire will be from one sidewall to the other.
A way to solve this problem would be... Keep your wheels/tires... And buy some Eibach Ground Control coilovers. They run about 300-400 and can come in what ever spring rates your little heart desires. Plus they have a lifetime warrenty, being that they are EIbach.... I have a set on my car and I love em. One of the best investments I've made so far.
205/40/17's will be fine. but know that ur car will feel slower than it does right now.
on the other hand u can get coilovers which is what i was thinking about doing bc my exhaust is so low.

the wheels wont help too much cause the top will be rubbing what you need to do it raise your koni's

the wheels help out enough...and do you mean eibachs? they are raised as high as they go...and what are you talking about rubbing?

205/40-17's with a lowering spring will rub slightly on the inner fender right above the front shock...i had a 2.25-2.5" drop with intrax springs and barely rubbed there and sometimes on the very top of the fender well if it was a hard enough dip in the road (shitty shocks)...rarely would it ever rub turning unless on a steep grade change.
I put on the Tein Flex coilover dampener's & raised the car 1/2"...no rubbing and still looks fine. You could always get a cheap coilover sleeve to put the eibachs on and raise it a little.
