Mazda Motor Corporation has confirmed that the sedan version of the all-new Mazda3 (known as Mazda Axela in Japan), fully redesigned for the first time in five years, will be revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 19, 2008.

The covers will be pulled off during Mazda’s press conference from 12:20 to 12:45 p.m. (local time) revealing the all-new Mazda3, the latest evolution of Mazda’s Zoom-Zoom spirit.

Every element of the all-new Mazda3 has been developed for heightened exhilaration, with a more refined sporty ride, top class fuel economy and quietness. Environmental and safety features, based on Mazda’s long-term “Sustainable Zoom-Zoom” vision, aim to achieve a balance with fun-to-drive. Add in a new expressive face and Mazda’s dynamic design elements, and the all-new Mazda3 is everything a driver could ask for in a sports compact.

The brand new version of Mazda’s best-selling sports compact carries forward the heritage of Mazda and the pedigree of the current Mazda3. Since its launch in 2003, the current Mazda3 has sold approximately 1.8 million vehicles in over 100 countries and has won more than 90 global motoring awards to date. The Mazda3 accounts for almost one in three Mazdas sold every year.

Following the world debut of the North American specification sedan with 2.0- and 2.5-liter engines at the show, the five-door hatchback version will be revealed in line with Mazda’s global sales schedule.

Ok I haven't really liked the sedan version until now, this has to be the sexiest of the mazda 3s to date (yes i have to say even more so than the ms3). I also noticed some influence from the new beast:

I hope they do a speed3. That would solidify dominance.

Just heard on the news that Ford is possibly selling its stake in Mazda. I really hope they get back to their roots before Ford got involved.

Ford/Mazda vehicles in the early 90's were nice. All the bad decisions/designs were all mazda, ford did them a favor and kept them from goin under. Nothin really bad came out of that deal i dont think. the mazdas with non mazda powerplants had good ones. BUT!!! after all that is said

Id like to see mazda be on their own...But the question is who will buy mazdas stake?

That's not entirely true. The 94-97 626, Probe, and MX6 4cyls were mated with the horrid Ford made CD4E automatic tranny. I'm glad Ford kept them afloat but other than that I can't say I was happy about their 34% stake.

see i was gonna mention that.. but i wasnt 100% sure if it was ford.. or not.. :goodjob:, but your right that was horrible. but those were great cars in 5spd form..nonetheless..

Most definitely. Both the 4cyl and V6 5spd trannys as well as the V6 auto tranny (Mazda designed) were great.

^^ Just as long as you didn't have a bad engine mount and go launch the car. The transmission on the V6 would literally split apart. Aside from that, good trannies. And for the record, Ford had 34% in the 80's. It was the late 80's/early 90's when Ford aquired 41% which was around the time when the MX6 and the Probe were built in the newly assembled mazda plant in detroit, Mi. The 626 was still being imported, at least until the redesign.

On a side note, that "Mazda" plant in detroit has been whore'd out with different ford vehicles. When Ford/Mazda dropped the Probe/MX6, the plant started building the cougar along side the 626, yet they never shared the same platform. The 626 was dropped in favor of the 6, and they thought it was lonely so they decided to build the Mustang along side the 6 for "quality control". At least the protege/3 stayed almost true to it's mazda roots. I think.

I think we can safely say with the current ms3 sales being so successful they will more than like release a ms version..

Ford did right by mazda and now its time for mazda to get up and go lets see what else kind of waves they can make.

i heard the reason they almsot went out the game was because they lost so much money investing designing the rotary? i heard gm and a few other companies were researching rotary motors but they stopped.

Eh, it looks like a little 6. The front bumper is "meh" at best but those taillights are nasty. It could have been better.
